Forums - Nintendo - Bayonetta 2 Review Thread: 15+ Reviews So Far (8 perfect scores), Meta Score 91

Hate using Amazon hourly, but as of right now, seems like the high review scores definitely caused a noticeable pre-order spike. As I type, Bayonetta 2 is #7 on Amazon US hourly best-sellers.

Btw, I just found out that the first game is 90% on meta (360), these scores should have been expected then.

You seem to be working pretty hard to justify dismissing a high score for this game as not being important...

Not really, no. I only noticed that the franchise had a high level of quality from the start. At first I didn't expect high scores, but I should have known better. You, on the other hand, sound defensive..

Actually, I called you out because, in the series of posts before that, you spent time arguing that the GameSpot reviewer reviewed it too highly, because they called the story "weak"... and when others pointed out that it didn't do that, you doubled down, rather than admitting that you'd misunderstood what the reviewer was saying, and then when it became completely indefensible, you pivoted to a different argument for why the high scores aren't important.

Personally, I don't care about the review scores. The important thing I've gotten from checking a few of the more negative reviews was that it's a game that takes a bit of time getting used to, but that has a pretty good gradient in terms of difficulty... so the fact that I was frustrated by the demo a bit is something that shouldn't bother me too much (the frustration was about how I was playing, the rest of the game was top-notch... also, I've gotten really used to Hyrule Warriors, and this game is similar but simultaneously very different in controls and fighting style).

This is good (both for Nintendo and the game dev.).
Nintendo put their money on the right horse :)

Something Microsoft is not always doing right hehe

I was never arguing that high scores aren't important. And the reviewer did call the story utter nonsense, but according to him, it is fitting. I just don't think that is possible. With the review contains sentences like "storytelling telling be damned" and "realization that future action game my never top this" it became clear to me that the reviewer is blind by his excitement over the game and sitting the standards low where it is needed. I did misunderstood the review at first though. the other "argument" is not an argument and it has nothing to do with my point. You are merely linking a points that shouldn't be linked. I just didn't know the original game scored that high. That is all there is really. I have no idea how your mind translated this as counter argument to high scores aren't important...  Which was never my point.

I don't care about review scores myself, but I really value good storytelling and the world building. That's why this particular review bothered me. So I made the first comment...  And that was a mistake

But it is correct:

10 - (Bayonetta is a girl + They cannot use Witch Time properly) = 7'5

We also know that being a girl is far more punishable than the other thing.

so:

They cannot use Witch Time properly · 2 = Bayonetta is a girl

So:

10 - (They cannot use Witch Time properly · 2 + They cannot use Witch Time properly) = 7'5

10 - 3They cannot use Witch Time properly = 7'5

7'5 - 10
_______    =  0'833 = They cannot use Witch Time properly

- 3

thus:

0'833 · 2 = Bayonetta is a girl

Bayonetta is a girl = 1'677

Which means 10 - (1'677 + 0'833) = 7'5

Polygon is right. Their review is no joke.

Direct to the asylum:

I played the demo and I loved it!! I can't wait to get this game. It's just too bad I don't have the money to get it when it's released.  I'm excited to see that it's receiving great reviews!!  Hopefully this will sell at least a million copies.  So, go out and purchase a copy Wii U and non-Wii U owners, if you like that type of game of course.

Sort of unrelated, but I've talked to some Twitter and NeoGAF users, and apparently Bayonetta 2 commercials have started to air on Adult Swim. Supposedly the commercial mentions Bayo 1 being included. Obviously can't provide concrete proof as I have no footage and am only going by the word of the Internet, but if this is true, then it looks like NoA won't be giving the TW101 treatment to this game after all.

good then cause adult swim seems like the perfect place to put commercials for Bayonetta 2

You are getting a game from them too, and it will be good, even if I don't own a XB1, Platinum Games always makes good games. Will it sell thats a different story..... I hope both sell good.
