Actually, I called you out because, in the series of posts before that, you spent time arguing that the GameSpot reviewer reviewed it too highly, because they called the story "weak"... and when others pointed out that it didn't do that, you doubled down, rather than admitting that you'd misunderstood what the reviewer was saying, and then when it became completely indefensible, you pivoted to a different argument for why the high scores aren't important. Personally, I don't care about the review scores. The important thing I've gotten from checking a few of the more negative reviews was that it's a game that takes a bit of time getting used to, but that has a pretty good gradient in terms of difficulty... so the fact that I was frustrated by the demo a bit is something that shouldn't bother me too much (the frustration was about how I was playing, the rest of the game was top-notch... also, I've gotten really used to Hyrule Warriors, and this game is similar but simultaneously very different in controls and fighting style). |
I was never arguing that high scores aren't important. And the reviewer did call the story utter nonsense, but according to him, it is fitting. I just don't think that is possible. With the review contains sentences like "storytelling telling be damned" and "realization that future action game my never top this" it became clear to me that the reviewer is blind by his excitement over the game and sitting the standards low where it is needed. I did misunderstood the review at first though. the other "argument" is not an argument and it has nothing to do with my point. You are merely linking a points that shouldn't be linked. I just didn't know the original game scored that high. That is all there is really. I have no idea how your mind translated this as counter argument to high scores aren't important... Which was never my point.
I don't care about review scores myself, but I really value good storytelling and the world building. That's why this particular review bothered me. So I made the first comment... And that was a mistake
