Yes, but not because of name confusion. But because of name association. Wii is associated with wiimote and motion controls and that don't sell consoles no more. Nintendo's home console brand needs a complete makeover if they want to sell more than 20 million per generation. A name change is just one part of that re-imaging.

I like the fusion name. The Wii brand is damaged, and if they are going to continue using it they should name the next console Wii Fusion or something.

I like the Fusion moniker too, would be cool if they kept it but highly doubtful. Nintendo is notorious for changing the names of their systems prior to launch. The N64 was originally the Ultra 64, the Gamecube was codenamed "the dolphin" and the Wii I think was 'the revolution'.

As long as it isn't anything stupid like the New 3DS or lazy like Wii U I'm fine.

They made the New Ipad suceed and thus Nitnendo fell for that and thought they could do it.

Nintendo is to stubborn to learn anything from it's past, since we still have odd discs, no third party support, neither does Nintendo listen to their fans.
Zelda, pokemon and Mario can only keep the brand alive for so long.

Oh wow!  I didn't know they hired a whole staff just to prevent the name confusion debacle in the future.  Let's hope this helps with the next gen home and handheld consoles.

OT: We have no idea. The new3ds is a perfectly fine name since it's simply a new model and not a successor. We really can't draw any conclusions based on that.
