Do you think Nintendo's next handheld and console will have different names totally from their predecessor?,in other words will they have fresh new names? Being a lot of people were confused over Wii to Wii U.Have they learnt anything from reuseing part of a old name for a new console?

New 3DS doesn't really show that they did....

Tho its semi better than Wii U.

Well... They hired a staff dedicated to naming so yea, I think they did... Just not for this generation :/

I don't see them dropping the "Wii" moniker for their console brand. Microsoft has the "Xbox" brand and Sony has the "PlayStation" brand which are pretty much guaranteed to continue into the next generation and beyond. For better or worse, Nintendo seems to be stuck with the "Wii" branding for the time being for better or worse.

Do you really need a whole staff 4 making names?

It's only sad because they could have easily called it the Wii 2 and had a similar name and branding that wouldn't have confused people.

The saddest thing of all though is that there are people f*cking stupid enough for the name to cause confusion.

Considering the names of their last few hardware itterations like Wii, WiiU, 3ds, 2ds and n3ds... Yes, yes they do!

Perhaps the "new 3DS" name isn't so bad? I mean it says it's "NEW" right in the title, and it stands out. Apple had The New iPad, so perhaps Nintendo knows what they're doing this time.
