I can say that The Wonderful 101 did have a slow start, but once it got going it was incredibly fun. I thought action wise it had a very good pace though, but that was just my experience. I also appreciated the excellent use of the gamepad.

Gamepad use in W101 was very good, it definitely wins points there.
But it just didn't feel as good as Bayonetta. When I pummeled bad guys in Bayo 2's demo, it had a sense of impact and power. In Wonderful 101 my blows against enemies felt irritatingly impotent.
Plus the crowd mechanic generated some real headaches; the big disorderly clump of characters made it hard to tell exactly what was going on when the action heated up, and made judging hitboxes annoyingly difficult. And having your gang scattered when you get hit was a real pain.
Bayonett 2 just felt so much more polished and user friendly.
