XBox certainly might win a few weeks here and there (and I'm not talking only about the rest of 2014), helped by inevitable strong bundling of free hit games (Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, FIFA etc.)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Horizon did notvreceive a dedicated bundle, and this might be traced to the fact that it failed to move consoles at a decent level.
Certainly MCC bundle will move some, while CoD probably will not due to a comparatively high price of the 1TB bundle.
All these Tier 2 launches were a brief flash to be followed by a long period of slow sales. And this I think is the question Microsoft needs to find an answer to: "Hiw us it that in 14 years of their consoles they failed to establish any meaningful presence outside of US/UK (or outside of English speaking countries in general)? How is it that in 14 years they did not manage to establish their brand name?
They certainly had chances, they had financial and marketing backing, plenty of good and excellent games, a superior online service, a Microsoft name which is in top 5 brands in the world, yet they failed horribly to attract significant worlwide audience to the point that the name XBox and the associated hardware is virtually non-existent in 3/4 of the globe.
And if in 14 years of existence, favorable market conditions, price advantage, time advantage they could not establish a significant foothold, it is an illusion to expect that to hapoen with XBox One after its PR suicide.
I expect XBox to shift most of their efforts into competing in the English speaking markets, and thus being able to win some weeks or even NPD months, but their excursions into European, Japanese and other markets will increasingly become just an afterthought, going through the motions and hoping for a honorable mention in the stores.
