Damn if only that PS Vita YOY comparison could be the same in the holiday periode (15k vs 3k)

next week is the real test. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=191035&page=1

Vita is up currently up 216k YoY but will shrink starting next week. Vita has i think a new color on Nov 13th + PSN end of November. Lets see how well it can stack up to last year.

Edit: I really thought this year 3ds+vita would be close. I mean the support for vita is very strong especially compared to last year. I think my early prediction was about 1.9m-2.0m Vita and 2.6m-2.8m 3ds. I also believed that vita>3ds in 2015 (but close) since a successor would maybe come but n3ds might put that on hold lol

Woot nice to see Vita boost there thanks to Danganronpa and Legend of Heroes.
Viva la Vita!

Overall Japan sales are bad, we care for the sales only hoping for 3rd party Japanese games support, the rest isn't effecting to much on the industry.

I don't see week 41 in your thread. Poeple buy the 3DS even without software release( US and EU) it is realy difficult to tell if the vita can be over the 3DS YOY in Japan because 3DS sells well even without big software release, and now that the New 3ds is advertising as a new handheld, 3ds will be bigger in 2015 than 2014 if they don't separate the 2 handheld. I think we need to make a thread about the fact that 3ds and n3ds sales will be combine although it is a new handheld( because it has exclusives)

Week 41 has vita slim debut. 60k week. So the 216k gap will be under 175k next week. then week 42-45 has vita sold 21k-27k each week. Dunno wat vita has for the next few weeks. PSN release week should have vita sell around 50k? (its end of Nov).

Anywayz n3ds is still being treated as a 3ds and sales will be combined. I seen many argue about it during the announcement. 2015>2014 for 3ds sales will put it over 20mil sales, i do wonder if n3ds will have a good effect for it overall. Time will tell

Best thing is to asume is one device, otherwise there could be two Nintendo handhelds that sell more than PSV in one generation XD

Aaaand the Bayo 2 and Hyrule Warrios hardware boost is gone, these were the titles that would provide momentum until Smash released.
Japan is a wasteland for home consoles; I don't think anyone should put any more effort into it this generation.

I dont think Sony and Microsoft ever started putting effort in Japan. they both just threw them out their and let them fend for themselves. As weve seen its not gone well. At least next year Japanese 3rd parties will finally be on board for PS4

Well, that's my point though; Nintendo has made some actual effort with the Wii U and the thing is still barely moving. They'd be better off ignoring Japanese home console projects and trying to decipher the Western markets for a much needed pick-up of the pace over there.

They haven't done enough. (Besides, two of their releases: Bayonetta 2(+1) and Fatal Frame 5 appear to be better fits for the western market. Hyrule Warriors would do much better in the west as well, considering that KT found a blue ocean in Nintendo fans.)

They lack JRPGs, SRPGs, and fighters on the Wii U.

See, that's where my point plays in; the 360 had some terrific JRPG's and fighting games but still bombed in Japan, offering the right software isn't the only part of the equation, or at least a smaller one than before. The PS3 had a fantastic offering in Japan but still sold mediocre. The simple fact is that the time of the home console has come and gone in this market; they are showing open disinterest in the concept of home consoles overall and I think it would be wise to adjust to the market rather than attempting to force it onto old tracks that no longer move the carriage.

Vita is doing great. You go girl!
