It all depends on how everything performs.  The PS4 is going to hit atleast 17m, no question about it.  If The Wii U and Xbox One happen to underperform and only do a combined 4m, then PS4 has 50% marketshare.

Even though it's the first year, six million seems kind of low for a holiday doing as good as the PS4 in comparison to the other two consoles out on the market.  I'm thinking the PS4 might get 18m-20m with 6m combined for the other two.

The Christmas period has always been the Xbox's strongest time of year so I expect sales to be more or less neck and neck during that period. I'm not even willing to call who will win this generation until I've seen how the XB1 performs this Christmas; although, if Sony win Christmas, I'm definitely going to assume the PS4 will win this generation.

Xb1 lost the last christmas season...decisively so, so what makes you think it'll be any different this year?

I believe by Spring of next year, if it will keep it throughout 2015 is a different question though.

I'm betting it will have 50% by December 31st, if not sooner. It's already really close now.

Because the first Christmas came off the back of negativity over many issues and the price was higher. Now those issues have been addressed, the XB1 should be a bigger challenge for Sony. They'll be happy with a draw in my opinion, but happier with a win of course. Then in 2015, the PS4 will start giving us those huge disparities in sales again.

I think it could very well do it this year. The PS4 will grt a massive boost this holidays, I see it doing much better than last year during launch.

The X1 will also get a boost, but I don't see it doing as well as last year. It'll do better in NA and UK (or on par) but any gain there will be offset by much more terrible performance in the rest of the world.

The Wii U will get a boost but it won't be nearly enough

If the PS easily outsells the XB1 this Christmas then it's safe to say the PS4 will comfortably win this generation.

I think it's very important for SCEA to release a bundle or two in NA during holiday season. In Europe, there will be a Driveclub, a Far Cry 4, and a LittleBigPlanet 3 bundle. In the NA, there's only the Destiny bundle. It may because it is still selling very well that SCEA doesn't want to announce another bundle to take away sales from the Destiny PS4 SKU.

Sony has a lot of options in NA. They can bundle the PS4 with GTAV, Far Cry 4, or LittleBigPlanet 3. The key here, I think, is the timing of the announcement of the bundles.

Yep, I'd have to agree.

Vgchartz numbers show ~46% market share ltd(~61% in 2014) and the numbers are undertracked by at least 250k.

I can see 50% market share before year's end!
