No need for an opening paragraph, it's a pretty simple question. But I appear to have written one anyway. Evidently I need 3 sentences to make a paragraph so ignore my second sentence.

Yeah I think it can by the end of this year.  I have under-estimated every guess so far, so now I am gonna try being very aggressive with my prediction.

Around the start of new year or early 2015.

PS4 will be around 19 million by Dec 31, I expect Xbone and Wii U combined to be around 18-20 million by then.

Xb1 lost the last christmas season...decisively so, so what makes you think it'll be any different this year?

Because the first Christmas came off the back of negativity over many issues and the price was higher. Now those issues have been addressed, the XB1 should be a bigger challenge for Sony. They'll be happy with a draw in my opinion, but happier with a win of course. Then in 2015, the PS4 will start giving us those huge disparities in sales again.

I can see what you are saying but the PS4 was so supply constrained last Christmas its impossible to say how either will go this Christmas. What I will say is that IMO the 360 traditionally got a larger boost than the PS3 during the Christmas period because US sales are more heavily concentrated around that period than say Europe, so its natural that the leading console in that region (360) got the larger boost. The PS3 was the leading console in Europe, but sales in Europe are more spread out across the year than in the US, which is why the PS3 would often lead global sales during the year but the 360 would catch up over the holidays.

As an example, in 2012 (prior to PS4/XB1 release) the total console sales were 20 million in the US and 16.6 million in Europe. However over the Nov-Dec 2012 period, 10 million consoles were sold in the US but only 6.4 million in Europe, so as a percentage of total sales the US has a larger spike around Christmas than Europe. So its not so much a 'Xbox gets a bigger boost in the holidays' but more 'the market leader in the US gets a bigger boost in the holidays', which happened to be the 360 last gen, but is currently the PS4 this gen. Therefore I expect the PS4 will continue to outsell the XB1 in Nov-Dec this year.

We'll have to wait and see. I ran this logic through my head too but decided on the 'boost for XB1' conclusion. I'm by no means certain though. I'm actually torn between the two ways of thinking but I think I'll play it safe for now lol.

The PS5 Exists.

I'm probably late to the party but wich market? Next-gen console market? Home console market? Videogames market with portables? with phones and tablets? And, is this also for 2014? The last 2 years? The last five years? I'm terribly confused.
I think you could have used that paragraph to be more specific.

Xbox used to do great in the holidays due to it doing great in holidays crazy markets and its price.

X1 has neither of those points going for it.

This holiday PS4 will do it.

What does that even mean?

360 doing good in xmas sales is easily explaind by it doing great all the time in markets that go ape shit crazy about buying shit for the holidays.

x1 will not do great this xmas

I think it could very well do it this year. The PS4 will grt a massive boost this holidays, I see it doing much better than last year during launch.

The X1 will also get a boost, but I don't see it doing as well as last year. It'll do better in NA and UK (or on par) but any gain there will be offset by much more terrible performance in the rest of the world.

The Wii U will get a boost but it won't be nearly enough

If the PS easily outsells the XB1 this Christmas then it's safe to say the PS4 will comfortably win this generation.

Call me living under a rock, but most already have the ps4 winning this gen.  What changed or happend recently that in any way disputes that notion ?

No one else is confused.

Hard to say. Depends on this holiday season, the PS4 has to sell like hot cakes.

Really depends on how Xbox One and Wii U do this holiday, but PS4 has a chance to take 50% marketshare by the end of the year/before first week of next year.

That's possible but unlikely. I think WiiU+Xb one will be about 18-18.5 million by 1 Jan, and PS4 will be 17 million at most. My guess is that by the time PS4 hits 22-23 million Xb one+Wii U will be about the same. So that's 5-6 million more PS4 sales, which probably takes us to ~July next year.
