Forums - Sales - Call of Duty is now a Playstation Series.

With a 2:1 user base it's gonna be extremely hard for Xb one to sell the most with any multiplat.

But wait! PS3 is ahead of 360? Oh never mind, it's by waaaaaaaay less then the margin for error so it's pretty irrelevant. Then again a statistical tie is interesting in itself. given how things started, and more or less the same user base.

Xbox merely capitalized where Sony dropped the ball with PS3. PS3 had huge momentum following the PS2 but Sony fucked up.

Actually, I expected the X1 to do even worse than it has. Xbox One needed to be cheaper than PS4 to really compete, not more expensive or even equal. This time MS fucked up.

Nintendo, Sony, and MS all dropped the ball on their 3rd console.

So every consoles success has been because of the competitors being bad instead of the console being good?

That has been pretty evident starting around the 5th gen.

PS1 benefited greatly from N64 staying with carts. Saturn was DOA for various reasons.
PS2 maintained that success thanks to great 3rd party support. OG Xbox had a strong core following though.
PS3 was too expensive early on and Xbox had good momentum. That helped the 360 thrive.
Now X1 fucked up primarily on price. They simply couldn't compete with Playstation at equal or higher price.

Also the fact that the n64 was forever being delayed, eventually arriving 2 years after the ps1. Imagine in this day and age if there was 2 years between a microsoft and sony system. Whoever came second would be dead on arrival. Its only because of Nintendo's legacy they were able to sell 30m.

With X1 I think the PR disaster was almost as important as price, the whole internet turnt against them and when we're talking early adopters, we're talking people on forums and in the IGN comments sections. ALso the stale legacy they left after they pretty much abandoned the 360 post 2010, whilst sony continued pumping out tons of exclusive titles had an effect on people I know.

The PR stuff is was a short term problem that the average consumer doesn't even pay attention to.

Bottom line. it was the $499 price tag that has kept X1 sales kinda low. Being $399 isn't gonna win Playstation fans either.

MS should have taken a hit and sold the X1 for $299 or even $349 without Kinect at launch. They would be struggling less and spending less on damage control.

you seem proud about this....im pretty sure both fan base can agree that they want cod to die off

I dont think people want COD to die off, they want it to go back to it's roots, which was an awesome WW2 game. All this modern shooter with robots crap is just rubbish :)

I said there was a 3rd generation curse before Durango was even a thing. So MS kicking itself in the balls was pre-destined. Question is, 4th gen comeback (PS4) or 4th gen death spiral (GC), or no 4th gen at all for Xbox?

Not too surprising actually, and I think this trend will continue and even grow wider. Is there anyonther "typical" xbox franchise we can compare with?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

The huge shift in populance to me was not determined alone (or even mostly). But thats mostly annecdotal stuff so I wouldn't bother arguing that point. Its  just interesting to note that the price cut in June done extremely little for Xbox One. The brand itself has been damaged and it wasn't the price that done that.

Also I don't believe the majority of early adopters can be thrown into the category of ''general public''.

It wasn't a real price cut, they just removed the Kinect and it became the same price as PS4. If anything, we can presume sales would be worse without the cut.

I agree, the Xbox brand was hurt. The Playstation brand was also hurt and that's why Xbox is relevant. So... meh.

The average PS4 and X1 consumer probably doesn't know about the graphics disparity or PR. People like you and I that follow this crap are a small minority.

MS sell it for 200$ less than they did and 100$ less than they are now? I'm pretty sure they want to win shareholders over with the xbox brand not give them the final straw that makes them say, yep get rid of it.

I also think it's unfair to just say the 360 with a cheaper price and early release is the only reason the 360 did well. In that case the Wii U should be doing much better. The fact is the 360 was a very good machine and people liked it. If it wasn't very good it could never do well. No matter how much SOny messed up.

Edit: I just realized that we're talking about this on a thread with nothing to do with this. I forgot how we even got here. Back to topic please! COD is Sony's once again!

Why ate we talking about a 3rd party game in this vein? If anything content is first on Xbox. But this is.still pretty baffling thread. To be.honest a lot of people will be buying an Xbox one for mcc. And a lot of already Xbox owners will choose mcc this holiday over cod. There's always been tougher fps titles to go up against for cod on Xbox.
