I think that means that there are so many upgrades over Windows 8 that it feels like a 2 generation leap instead of a 1 generation leap, hense why they skipped a generation in numbering.

That's funny, because it looks really iterative compared to previous leaps, which tended to be pretty dramatic at times. This one kind of just seems like more Windows 8, with some 7 thrown back in and a couple of improvements.
