Games that appeal to your target market are what will attract buyers from your target market.

Wow that was deep. But you forgot something.

"Games that appeal to your target market are what will attract buyers from your target market unless they've already been attracted to a competitor."

Oh sorry, I missed the part that requires everyone to own one console and only one console.

@Stever89

Not helping his statement.
Just giving facts.
And Wii will outsell Ps3. That's given.

Nothing's cheaper than something free.

F1 vs FOTA, when too much power is in couple peoples hands.

PS2 - 120 million, GC - 21 million, Xbox - 24 million. How many PS2 owners owned a second console?

Mainly it's hardcore users who buy second consoles because they want the best games in the generation, and there are usually enough good games on each system for them to warrant the purchase of another, or even 3rd system. Casuals are not like that. They have neither the money or time to invest in so many games, so once they choose, they almost without a doubt stick to that one console.

Of course not everyone, and not every casual, will stick to this formula, but that's the way it's been, and I don't see why it would drastically change this generation.

Read some of my other posts. I never said every single casual that buys the Wii is not going to buy a PS3/360. All I said was that not enough casuals are going to be willing to get a second console for it to help the PS3.

So yes, the PS3 will get some casuals, just like the GC and Xbox did. But no, it won't get enough for it to beat the Wii.

Where the hell is CrazzyMan? =)
He would have more than a couple of things to say on this topic. =)

Oh, and Words Of Wisdom, I was being series with the "what you said was deep" because it was deep, in a way. And coming from you I wouldn't expect anything less.

It's just that if they've been attracted somewhere else it won't be as easy.

Slimebeast: Lol, but you need more =))))))))))

No. Just no. Don't get into an argument like this with Words Of Wisdom. You can't win. He is evil and will defend his point as long as he is bored and has nothing else to do. The worst thing is that at the end he is still right. He just likes to post stuff that can be misinterpreted, to fool people. He is the devil.

He never talked about casuals in his post, so his statement holds true and the part you added was unnecessary and wrong. You are just wasting your time here.

@Words Of Wisdom - Sorry for ruining your fun.

Wait, it's not true that if a competitor steals your customers, games that attract that market might not actually attract them as well as you would like?

And I never talked about casuals in what I added to what he said. But then once he brought up people being "required" to only own one console, that's when I brought up casuals normally not buying more than one console.

I think the PS3 is more than a core (by far most powerful!) games console. Blu-Ray movies, TV recording, internet browsing, Home, etc. Also GC, XBox and PS2 had more games overlap and the power of the consoles weren't that much apart, all were signifanctly weaker than PCs with harddrive installed games of the time, this time however the PS3 does provide way more processing power, more bandwidth and has Blu-Ray to its advantage compared to current mainstream PCs. I think this will become obvious to gamers later this year and once that happens its appeal will expand even further.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

Ok well that's your opinion and I have mine, and though I don't agree with you, I can see and appreciate where you are coming from.

I won't say I know what's going to happen. I believe what I believe is going to happen by looking at past trends and data, and it points in my relative direction. But at the same time the market is expanding at a incredible rate, the experiences are entirely different, with each console being strong in certain areas, and as such a major shift could occur. Or the consoles may live side by side, and sell very respectable numbers each.

probably just some good 2008 games will get some casuals runnin over to PS3.
