Games that appeal to your target market are what will attract buyers from your target market.

Wow that was deep. But you forgot something.

"Games that appeal to your target market are what will attract buyers from your target market unless they've already been attracted to a competitor."

Oh sorry, I missed the part that requires everyone to own one console and only one console.

PS2 - 120 million, GC - 21 million, Xbox - 24 million. How many PS2 owners owned a second console?

Mainly it's hardcore users who buy second consoles because they want the best games in the generation, and there are usually enough good games on each system for them to warrant the purchase of another, or even 3rd system. Casuals are not like that. They have neither the money or time to invest in so many games, so once they choose, they almost without a doubt stick to that one console.

Of course not everyone, and not every casual, will stick to this formula, but that's the way it's been, and I don't see why it would drastically change this generation.

Read some of my other posts. I never said every single casual that buys the Wii is not going to buy a PS3/360. All I said was that not enough casuals are going to be willing to get a second console for it to help the PS3.

So yes, the PS3 will get some casuals, just like the GC and Xbox did. But no, it won't get enough for it to beat the Wii.
