Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox exclusive D4 flops with less than 10k copies sold in first week (according to the game's leaderboards)

Why do you think it sold more on 360?

It's not fair, but that isn't the point.

Your point doesn't make much sense when you start considering the scenario ...

Why not? Platform they made more money with previous game = platform they put new game on.

Whether the conditions for the previous game were unfair to third parties, that doesn't matter on the overall performance when comparing side-to-side.

Like we said, because it was exclusive on 360 during 3 years ( so knowing that, there is no  logical reason to choose X1 for D4), and because, dont know why, but the main fanbase was in the Us and X360 being the most popular console there, it makes sense.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

The game wasn't successful on Japan - neither on 360 or Ps3. They chose localizing over DP for 360, and that's were the fanbase grow up.

You have no ways of knowing if the alternative scenario (localizing DP for Ps3) could have been more profitable. Neither do I.

All you have is the fact that it sold more on 360 regardless of whether the conditions were fair or not. Hence why it's logical to try and put your new game onto MS's platform.

It's true that absolute game sales are important but your refusing to acknowledge the circumstances that were faced on the PS3 and that DOES matter to the overall sales performance on the other versions.

To be honest I didn't even know it was out yet, and I came here everyday.
Seems like the marketing was nil.

Before the surprise release nine days ago there was zero marketing for it.  Hope it gets some more sales eventually.  Don't think it had a huge budget hope the other planned episodes will still get released its actually pretty good even though the Kinect controls are pretty bad for it.   Not for the QTE but for the general navigation.

They made the deal for the wrong console, and with the wrong company, thanks to Microsoft, we are fucked, we paid the first part and we will never get a sequel ...

The game isn't set up for being a game with sequels it tells a single story and is done after that.

Thought it was episodic, especially with the cliffhanger that people talked about.

Sad that people are taking this as an opportunity to criticize the Xbox community, like an extremely niche game like this would have sold boatloads somewhere else.

Heavy Rain was a niche title that PS gamers pushed to almost 3M sold.  And even the less well received Beyond: Two Souls to over 1M.  What's ridiculous is to assume that putting this game on a system who's audience seems to appreciate niche titles more, and who's company of origin actually pushes niche titles even if they don't sell the greatest, would have resulted in similar sales.

The hole in your argument is Swery games are weird as shit and low budget. Those PS3 games you mentioning were bigger budget, designed for the west, and heavily marketed. Games like Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us probably did very well on Xbox.

Swery's Deadly Premonition sold 110K on PS3 in the west. Why? It was niche and had no marketing.

Hence, try considering other factor than X1. Personally I haven't bought D4 because its episodic. I rather wait until its complete.

I am not refusing to acknowledge it. All I'm saying it doesn't matter to the developer. After all, game hardly sold anything on Japan. They chose to localize 360 version, and the fanbase WAS BORN on that console; on that platform.

We can only speculate what would have happened if it had been Ps3 the localized version, but we can't say anything for certain.

So the developer chose the platform where the fanbase supposedly was. Doesn't matter if Ps3 had difficult times; after all, it wasn't there were the fanbase was born.
