My take: it is fun game that got all my playtime the last days. I never played a Warriors game before, so I was unsure if I buy before, but I wanted the Zelda-fanservice so I thought what the hell and bought the game. And it was worth it. The Warriors gameplay is on the facade hack'n'slay, but you have nearly never a real problem with the fights. They are only stuff to do while making the decision that make wins or losses: a sort of real-time-strategy-decisions. Will I take this fortress first or do I kill that enemy commander threatening my troops on that side? Oh crap, one of my commanders is in trouble, do I save him so that I still have him later in the game or are other objectives more important? These decisions are deciding about the outcome of the battle, and often time is very important. So I have run through enemy masses without engaging them in combat because I had more important tasks. That weorks and I consider buying Warriors Orochi, alone to learn how much this was influenced by Zelda (Items? Adventure mode?).
That said, the game is no 9 though. It has some issues. The graphic is not great, the game has to do to much to render masses of enemies instead of nice details. Some things in the story seem without logic. Camera sometimes near walls go through the wall and I see the outside. If you made errors and for instance your HQ took to much damage in the beginning of the level it is nearly impossible to win. There is no way to 'heal' your HQ. If you finished your objective enemies are removed from the world, but you can still go around while last messages are exchanged - this seems strange.
So in the end this is a solid 7,5 for me - similar to the metacritic in this case.
