Well i think the 3DS might decrease the Wii U selling point because of the 3DS version coming out first.

I'm guessing 6-7m lifetime.

As for the predicted significant hardware boost, it would come mainly because of the Holidays and not because of Smash bros alone.

That's not necessarily true. MK seems to consistently sell to roughly 1/3rd of the install base of whichever system it's released on. Smash games tend to sell millions, regardless of install base. This point has actually been discussed dozens of times before in similar threads.

Yeah, it'll sell well for sure. It should (hopefully) propel the Wii U close to 10mil by the end of the year.

Definitely won't outsell the 3DS version though. The 3DS version simply has a higher sales potential due to having a much, much larger install base.

Will it sell? Yes.

Will it sell as well as the 3DS version? No. 3DS has an install base much, much larger, and will have the advantage for being the "demo," so to speak, for the Wii U version.

Wii the 3DS version improve the sales of the Wii U version? Maybe. 3DS version already seems cramped, and I have an XL! However, some may be content with this, reducing the need for a Wii U to go along with the Wii U version.
