Nomura was PR king.

Now we get Phil Spencer 2

Get the fuck outta here Tabata. Give me my KH Final Fantasy goddamn.

How the heck Kingdom hearts isn't a casual one button action?

How?

Ever since KH1 you had a button to attack, a button to block/dodge, a button to jump and a button to use special attacks (in HD remake), you had 3-4 shortcuts to spells.

Chain of Memories: basic controls from KH1 +  a button to stock cards, 2 button to switch your cards, a shortcut button, a cancel stock button, a button to execute a combo.

KH2 added reaction commands and forms for more combat option.

BBS: added the most depth with the Command Deck, Command Styles and Lockshoot.

3D: basically BBS + MotionFlow + Links + Reality Shift.

Yeah... One button action game it is.

But the attack themselves require only one button. This shouldn't be taken literally, the TGS live demo clearly had some sort of menu there.

I think we expected too much.
We all expected a hybrid of Type-0 and KH but ended up getting your typical "PRESS X TO WIN" SE battle system.
I guess that isn't entirely bad but when he says "I do want to make it more casual", what does that really mean? Is he comparing it to Type-0? He then says " I don't want to be frantically pushing buttons", makes me believe he is comparing it to Type-0 and not your typical FF game. Type-0 was a pretty challenging game and if his goals are to make FF "more casual", then we could probably end up with a Final Fantasy no different from the rest.
If I'm wrong how the hell can you make Final Fantasy more casual?

Or maybe it's just shit PR and we're worrying over nothing. He says casual without sacrificing the gameplay depth, which is pretty much any dev's wish.

When you start any RPG first battle is about attacking and maybe use a pot. This doesn't make every RPG casual.

To be fair, isn't all turn based RPGs one button smasher?

Eh, we just need to wait for the demo honestly. Or Jump Festa when we get more info about XV.

this game is going to be more automated that ff12 and ff13! terrible

FFXV is not turnbased though. Action Rpgs alleviate their loss of stragety by mapping actions to different buttom (among other things.)

Could be one button for normal attack, one or more for magic one for backstepping one for blocking.Possible they just want a control that is fast reactive to the world and thats how its need to be in an action game. And you cant compare this with ff13, the batllesystem isnt the same.It will prob be alot more like kingdom hearths than FF13.
let us just stay neutral till we can experience it ourselves with the demo:)
