Forums - Nintendo - Will Nintendo finally fix their software output for Wii U in 2015?

It will be better, since for the first half of 2015 (jan - June) is already confirmed: Mario Maker, Splatoon, Captain Toad for Europe in Jan, One of the Miyamoto Projects. And donÄt forget the rumor of 1 Game per month next year. I think it will be a lot better, especially in the first half of the year.

Around the Network

this is the release schedule I think would be acceptable and is possible.

February-Yoshi's Woolly World
March-Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
May-Mario Maker
June-Splatoon
August-Super Mario Sunshine HD
September-Xenoblade Chronicles X
October-Devil's Third+Kirby Rainbow Curse
November-Legend of Zelda U+Mario Party 10

I believe Star Fox will be delayed and I don't know enough about Project Guard/Giant Robot, are they digital/retail/part of a collection?

No First party games... they should invent a Second party game! and they have to be amazing.

I hope capcom will do something for them!

Wii Sony or Microsoft fix their output? Obviously not.

One company can't do it alone that why 3rd parties are important. That is the difference between Nintendo and the other two.

Nintendo's relationships with third parties is so far gone at this point I don't see much of anything fixing it.

Even in Japan it seems to me like Japanese developers try to push mobile as much as they possibly can and supporting the 3DS is kind of like getting them to eat their vegetables.

Nintendo would have to embrace some kind of strategy where they effectively let third parties basically chose their next chipset and then charge lower licensing fees than Sony/MS to ever make any real traction with devs now IMO. That and they'd have to start marketing much moreso to teeangers/adults as that's what the majority of the big third party games are aimed at, so they want a platform that's in line with the games they make.

I don't think Nintendo is willing to do any of that.

Agree with your comments. I guess the point I was trying to make is on their own the output problem will never be fixed. Unless they double/tripple the number of their studios either internal or through hiring 3rd parties to work on exclusives.

But even then they would need to create new IPs in new genres that they lost over the years.

I still think Nintendo's biggest mistake was selling RARE or at least the IPs that RARE owned. Lot of established franchises went to be buried by Microsoft.

Image Perfect Dark becoming the flagship FPS franchise on Nintendo, i.e the Halo equivalent. Hell when they got sold and left time splitters was born. Image if that also become a Nintendo exclusive franchise.

Image Killer Instinct how that could have grown over the years.

Jet force Gemini could have grown in a nice story based game for kids.

Then you had your banjo platformer that complimented Mario.

Then VC all their classics.

Nintendo has been teasing that the games are coming within the next 6 months or so ever since Spring of 2013- they said they would begin a consistent offering of compelling g software beginning in 2nd half 2013- Here we are in 2nd half 20014. Talking about how they will finally get the games out in 2015 - of course when 2015 gets here it will become the 2nd half of 2015 in which the games will come - At some point Nintendo may release a consistent amount of software but I'll take it seriously when/if it actually happens not because they Nintendo talks as if it is going to happen

I will be very pleasantly surprised if Zelda U releases in 2015

Re unified development for Wii u and 3ds and or home console and handheld- how Will they develop for both platforms w out either making the home console suffer by to compensate for the handheld specs or the handheld suffer via parts of the game being cut out in order to handle a home console title?

They'll just make the same game for both the portable(s) and home variant.

I don't think Nintendo has much interest in graphics far beyond the Wii U anyway ... for most Nintendo IP, they look great on the Wii U as is (Mario Kart 8) and Nintendo wouldn't be willing IMO to make a $80 million dollar Zelda game or something anyway.

By 2015/16, mobile chips will be able to provide PS3/360/Wii U level visuals, so I think what they'll do is they'll use one version for their portable and then just use the same chip for their home variant just with 2-3x as many CPU/GPU cores + double/triple the RAM. That way the games can run at say 1080P/60 fps on TV while being perhaps 540p-720p/30 fps on the road.

Using the same chips will also let them get a cheaper price on the chips, allowing for the price of the hardware to scale faster in cost.

The home console variant in this type of a setup could be extremely cheap ... perhaps like $179.99 to start with and scaled down in price to $149.99 in under a year. Also extremely small (think VitaTV/AppleTV size, maybe a bit bigger) and power efficient (sub 15 watt power consumption). I can totally see Nintendo doing this, it fits them like a glove.

If you're hoping for basically a Wii U-2 (err ... GameCube 3?) though which is slightly better than a PS4 next time out, yeah you're probably out of luck. I think Nintendo is done with the traditional home console in a lot of ways after this gen simply because there isn't enough of a market for them. If all they're going to sell is 18 million consoles without a gimmick, well they can probably sell 18-25 million of these "handheld chip in a box" consoles too, probably at a slightly higher profit margin at that without having to invest in tons of R&D costs for hardware development (as they'd just be reusing the chipset from their handheld).

So much stupidity put together.

Pathetically putting ps360 graphics on the same level of wii u. sayin crap like "only 7 million base for bayonetta 2 and hyrule warriors to sell", as if that's the final installed base. saying wii u will only sell 18 million...

...And of course, the many delusions about nintendo's competitiveness and the moronic "strategy" described several times.

No delays....

Nope, its not simply about having 1 game per month. Its about having several to cater to various different tastes. The assumption that everything Nintendo appeals to everyone with a Nintendo system is false. Hence why most of their output which doesn't have the name mario in the title has flopped.

I'm pretty sure xenoblade, splatton, kirby and mario party 10 will relese earlier than on your list. star fox won't be delayed. we'll probably also see animal crossing U and metroid next year. also, maybe the rumour of 3 third party exclusives like bayo 2 and devil's third is true.

The perfect release schedule would be:

jan- yoshi

feb- splatoon

mar-mario maker

apr- xenoblade

may- kirby

june- mario party 10

july- devil's third

august- remake?

september- animal crossing

october- star fox

november/december- Zelda, metroid, f-zero 3d mario as options.

other titles could be released, making it more than one game per month.

Wii U is much closer to PS3/360 than it is to PS4/One, that is a fact.

Wii U current install base is about 7 million so yes Hyrule Warriors/Bayonetta 2 currently have an install base of 7 million to sell to.

Wii U is tracking quite a bit below Gamecube in the same time frame, at its current rate it will only sell about 18 million.

This "moronic" stratety fits in with many of the things Nintendo has been hinting at in their investors briefings lately.

There is nothing wrong with any of the things Soundwave said in his posts, everything he said was based on facts, trends or actual quotes from the likes of Iwata & Miyamoto.

im not really sure what anything u wrote has to do with this thread, never did i say in the OP that Nintendo needs to release a game each month or that all Nintendo games appeal to all Nintendo fans. All im asking is in 2015 will we see Nintendo stop having 3-4 month gaps between major 1st party titles outside of the holiday quarter?
