Forums - Microsoft - Where is the Sunset Overdrive expectation?

I think it will do well. Not really well, but 1-3 million well

I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if it broke 1mil...I guess my hopes aren't very high saleswise, but I really haven't seen as much hype from the MS crowd as I expected for such an awesome looking game

Insomniac have lost their zest over the last half of the PS3's lifetime, but they know how to make great games. I think the game will be solid but won't sell that much.
Personally; I'm really excited about it, I love IG's sense of humor and characters and they are terrific at gameplay.

For me their last good game was R3.

Yeah, I agree with that. I actually prefer Naughty Dog's PS2 days as well, the Jak series is better than Uncharted imo.

I hope Insomniac will have a big comeback, they have some real talent, their recipes just grew a little stale!

Well we'll see, between 2014 and 2015 they got SO and the Ratchet remake, maybe thats what they need a comeback to their roots, who knows.

I don't really care for it but it looks fun for those who do

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

It all depends on if the game is good or not. Its one of those games where you have to wait and see.

I think Insomniac made a mistake when they stopped developing exclusively for Playstatation. Theyre games were always kinda niche but those kinds of game have a following on Playstation. When they went multiplat/Xbox the alienated theyre Sony following and the Xbox player is a different kind of player they dont seen like theyre on the same page as Insomniac at all.

I seriously think they shouldve stayed developping for Playstation.

it looks like a really fun game, yet there seems to be not much excitement for the game, which definitely is reason for concern

on amazon for example it only ranks at around #200-300, although it releases in a month .. I hope people will pick it up (maybe after good reviews?), as I have a feeling that Insomniac really needs this to do well

The thing I have to give MS props for is giving Insomniac a good deal of creative freedom, something that EA failed to do for them, and a crappy game was the result.
I'm sure the it's a game I will miss and there will be a bit of console envy. But I'm not sure it will convince too many people to buy Xb one if they are invested in several playstation franchises. There aren't that many Insomniac fans who will follow the studio to whatever platform they go. So Insomniac's main challenge is to appeal to the xbox core who have never had a playstation and do not know or particularly care about Insomniac's pedigree on PS. And in that respect I wonder if the xbox core has much interest in this style of game. Does xbox have a history with games like this?
Not sure where people think 1-3 million in sales is going to come from. We're talking a pretty low cost install base as a starting point and one that is not going to skyrocket during this game's principle selling period, which will probably end in the new year. Based on the most optimistic projections Xb one may have 10 million install base by the time SO finishes selling in any substantial numbers. I can't see this game having more than a 10% attach rate at that point in time.

Well if thats the case we'll see with the Ratchet remake next years.

I think it'll be a fun game and will do pretty well as far as sells go and may have nice legs depending on word of mouth. Plus I think its the only big game coming out in Oct

Bayonetta 2

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
