imho there are 3 options
its china government related
localisation
to high demand so to less "china" xbox ones

but this wont help them to sell more in any way.
launch now and get a great holiday, too is better than have a bigger launch at holiday

Too low demand could be a reason as well.

why would u delay in that case?

they didnt delayed japan with 20k preoders

thats no resaon u delay as a company

But they knew they didn't have a chance in Japan. No matter how hard they'd try there, they would still fail. In China, since its a completely new market, they could advertise the console more agressively.

Definitely sounds like some screwup with the Chinese government. So...HURRY UP AND GET YOUR ASS IN THERE, SONY!! GO! GO! GO!

Sony should face even worse issue since it's Japanese company

I recommand Sony just run away and don't care Chinese market, no need to risk, current sales is great enough

The vast majority of chinnese dont't care if it is a japan company.............That is silly. and only brought up by peple for console wars. A survey already showed more people in china want PS4 instead of an X1.

Yeah, but the government not

Artificial hype if you ask me.
Are there any concrete sources about the 100k pre-order numbers? cuz that would be pretty impressive for an American console in China, the land of piracy.

Demand being too high isn't a reason to delay.  Also, they would have said that.  Instead they indicated that tt was to strenghten the lineup.

Only this: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=190281&page=3#3

Apparently, some of the Chinese consumers are not pleased with the X1's price and region locking.

Here's some of the comments on this article: http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_6b8988220102v17q.html

"卖那么贵 还锁区"
Translation: "So expensive for something region locked."

"太贵了"
Translation: "Too expensive."

"可以不锁区吗?锁区的话,可以不要禁二手吗?都来的话,我还是买水货"
Translation: "Can you not region lock it? If region locked, can you at least allow 2nd hand games? If not, I will import."

"阉割版的,畸形版的,谁要啊,等ps4吧"
Translation: "Castrated edition, deformed edition. Who wants that? PS4 it is."

"双向锁区+禁止二手交易+世界最贵价"
Translation: "Both region locking and banning 2nd hand games, plus the world's most expensive price (console)."

And there are a lot more comments than just these five.

Microsoft is also under investigation by China for anti-trust violations (http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/08/06/us-microsoft-china-idUSKBN0G60GR20140806 ).

So maybe pre-orders aren't as high as they would like?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yeah this is it in a nutshell why would microsoft a company that has since launch always had plenty of supply (due to lack of high demand) not have this made up 100k number ready to go.  Do people seriously believe that microsoft doesnt have millions of these things collecting dust in warehouses as we speak cause of their weekly global sales or lack therof compared to sony dont make me laugh.
