Woo, interesting. I come back to this thread like 200 comments later and it looks like some people are upset because others don't particularly like some aspects of the game?

Seriously?

Let's explore the reasons people are giving as to why someone can't be allowed to voice less than favorable opinions:
1. They're just Final Fantasy "haters" - Ah, it must be that. Even though I liked FF13. Wait, what?
2. They're anti-PS4 - Yeah, my hatred of Playstation is well known.
3. They prefer it be a group of male soldiers - Oh, of course. Even though I don't like Gears of War and my entire point is that I like diversity in my RPGs, along with the mechanic of picking up characters from different environments and circumstances as you progress and watching how they contrast and meld together as a team.

Did I miss anything? How about this as a reason:
4. People like and dislike different things.

I'm just not excited about following around a band of rich-kid hipsters. I'm not. Does it bother me that someone else might love that scenario? Not in the slightest. Knock yourself out.

I'm not excited by the combat, either. Everything in Japan seems to be flowing toward more Hunter-style action, which just isn't my cup of tea. I favor tactical over twitch. Am I saying that FF15 has bad combat? No, I'm just expressing what I like.

I don't particularly care for the car, either.

Add it all together and I don't see much in that trailer that gets me hyped.

I want to see more of the conflict than of some kind of fantasy themed road trip. I want to see more about the protagonists and that goddess of death. I want to know who Luna is.

I won't like, though--right now, I'm definitely pulling for villains over Beiber and his posse.

Lack of acceptance because of sticking to personal preference, that Is what I get from this. Nobody is saying you can't have opinion. But saying " lol a band of boys" isn't really deep enough to discuss or "respect".

I big open world is something they've been trying to achieve for quite some time now. FF XII had that, but it was separated into zones because of a lack of memory. Big monsters? Surely you've played a FF game before? Because that's certainly nothing unique to Xenoblade. In fact, if anything, it's Xenoblade that took a lot from other franchises, not the other way around.

Now, take a look at Grand Pulse from FF XIII and realise how you're wrong to attribute the inspiration to Xenoblade.

For the record, FF XIII came out before Xenoblade.

I agree, in fact I always thought Xenoblade took inspiration from FF XII. But I'm not talking about inspiration, I'm just talking about the "feel" of the game. If you played Xenoblade Chronicles you would get that... "Xenoblade-ish" feel from this trailer.

I have, and the trailer still didn't do that for me. If anything I had a Grand Pulse feel from that trailer. Especially considering the beasts that were present.

I think what has people scratching their heads is that none of that is new or unique.  That style of combat in RPGs has been around for a long, long time.

Oh really, now. Explain to me exactyly how the battle system works. Please. Enlighten us.

And what would you have replaced it with?

What on earth are you talking about?

Game must have this, this and that for me to like it. Open mind? What's that? I already know everything there is to know about that game from the few trailers I've seen, and I decide to dislike it. It's not like the game I love...

... Then again... Why am I not playing that game I love? It's already in my collection. I just expect those people to remake it endlessly.

Uh... great for you... personally I hated Grand Pulse.

You mention that style of combat, and condemn it for not being new. I'm just asking an explanation about it. Since you seem to know exactly how it is.

Isn't it like Kingdom Hearts? In that case pressing the X button and using the cure command is pretty much all you have to do.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.  When a new game is announced, you don't look at the trailer and think, "hm, that appeals to me," or, "none of that really interests me"?  If it doesn't, is it because of a "lack of acceptance" on your part?  So, it's your fault if a trailer doesn't rev your hype booster?

If my tongue-in-cheek comments about Bieber and his posse aren't enough to discuss, what about the rest of what I said?  How about, "my entire point is that I like diversity in my RPGs, along with the mechanic of picking up characters from different environments and circumstances as you progress and watching how they contrast and meld together as a team."  I'd say that's far from "lol a band of boys."

Exactly this

I love black, but when someone create something white, I understand it and do my best to see beauty in it.
