the posted messages looked like messages from a stalker. thats nothing to joke about, the joke is that she is trying to spin it like it was a gamer. i mean sure there are a lot death threats aimed at her in /b/, but noone takes them seriouse, she posted some threats, and those looked like from a stalker.
This is not a problem exclusive to women. The Internet is a mean and toxic place for everyone regardless of gender. Especially when what you say isn't agreed with. I also don't think anyone should take most death threats on the Internet seriously. When everyone is trying so hard to be heard over textual mediums it undoubtedly goes to hyperbole. Rape, aids murder at least after years of reading the Internet seem tame to me. After reading the threats I think she needs a thicker skin if she plans to continue speaking using the Internet.

people see something suspicious about a situation and decide to investigate and as a result are instantly relegated to being something overtly negative
that is some god complex right there
her being a woman does not imo exempt her from the same level of scrutiny that we would apply to any other person making claims
when someone makes a claim generally we do not take what they say at face value... we take the time to analyse the evidence and then come to a conclusion
otherwise you'd just be someone's puppet
