Delaying it away from Mario Kart 8 probably would have helped it...if they hadn't waited THIS long. Now it's going to release alongside Smash Bros. It needed to come out during the summer drought of Wii U games. I would have bought it then. I don't have the money to now, not when I have to buy Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, and Smash Bros.

They did not "waited this long", the production was halted for 5 full months for the Wii U edition, from January till May 2014, when the team returned they had to pick up again and it took 5 months, and maybe they used 2 o 3 more weeks for the Gamepad integration. The timing is not good, I agree but there was nothing more they could do.

I disagree. I was interested before the game was released. It showed a lot of potential, particularly with how the gamepad could have possibly been used for the hacking side of the game. I was most interested to see if proper usage of the gamepad could have made the Wii U version the definitive version of the game despite the PS4's graphical advantage.

However, I've already played it now. It was average, and the hacking was dumbed down to a single button press, so any hope for a more fleshed out experience on the gamepad was gone.

That is a huge delay... I doubt anyone will buy it 0.o

No they are not, production was STOPPED all together for 5 months (Jan-May 2014) as the team was splitted to make the other versions reach the May release date as those were also behind schedule, after the other editions the development team got back together in June and Ubisoft was thinking about cancelling the title, but finally they decide it to give it an opportunity and release it during the holidays when the sales of the console improve.

By the time this comes out the PS4/X1 versions will be half price. Who is Ubisoft kidding though? No one is going to buy this.
