Forums - Gaming - SSB 3DS wont support the Circle Pad Pro, but will support C-Stick from New 3DS...

On the contrary, pretty much all smash professionals use the C-stick regularly for aerials. And with pivot-cancelling making a debut in Smash 4, they will also have a reason to use it for smash attacks.

Weird. Can't really be a technical reason as the New 3DS is basically just a 3DS with a CPP built in. Probably a business decision. A dodgy one. On the upside, RE: Revelations will support the N3DS !

It actually is technical. The 3DS cannot do more than one thing per the IR port, which is what the CPP uses. Smash will be constantly looking for the amiibo peripheral which is on that same IR channel, so that means that the CPP cannot connect via the IR and the device was never built to switch between multiple devices and can only connect to one. Now, they could possibly do a software toggle of some sort that would disable said amiibo peripheral search but that's part of their marketing and its unknown how deeply rooted in the game code such a thing would even be to then be editable. (I suspect its fixable but they won't bother unless there's a large outcry, the sales on the CPP are minimal as far as I am aware and the costs of trying to patch the code may outweigh the benefit of doing it.)

Since the N3DS has the controls built it, there is no IR port communication issue... nor is there even an Amiibo peripheral needed.

Oh wait, this thread is about being uninformed. Nevermind.

Interesting to see it as a hardware limitation.

I assume that any hardcore pro players will either find themselves playing the Wii U version or would want to be using the newer, faster 3DS hardware anyway. So I doubt there'll be any outcry.

Personally I think they should have made the game more unique/different from the Wii U one by forcing everyone to use the stylus somehow. Draw up for uppercut, draw horizontal for ground kick, etc.

Thats the same kind of innovation that took a perfectly fine game bent it out of shape a bit in Super and broke it to shreds in Sticker Star

Not sure if this was supposed to be some kind of jab...

Just a joke at the reactions. Not actually aimed at anyone.

So, then it's incompetence for developing the hardware to handle the amount of periphals it offers?

I'm going to assume you're quoting this for the ironic value...right?

The 3DS was developed before NFC or CPP ever existed, particularly before NFC and Amiibo were even an idea on paper probably, I guess Nintendo needs to hire more Fortune Tellers.

CPP was created because they made the horrible choice in not including a second analog stick. They provided a workaround so that more games are playable. Now they develop an optional skylanders add-on and it takes away a control scheme. I mean, not a whole lot to defend.

Oh I see what you meant, I thought you were talking about the limits on the IR connection which would have require clairvoyance to predict as it turned out. Yes, the 3DS control scheme is subpar, no argument there.

The controls were not the problem in Sticker Star. The lack of depth with characters, story, and the overall feel of progression were the problem.

I can't say I care much about it, but a dick move remains a dick move. Even if it's Nintendo who makes it.
