"Only PS2, PSP, or DS games will be ported to the Wii."

Here ya go:

and those are just examples. Im sure more will be coming, and im not surprised if RE5 is one of them.

Is this game a port ?

Having played it quite a bit I don't think it would be a good idea. Even if it could be "done" on the Wii, playing it without a dual analog controller would kill it for me. With that said, capcom definitely made the right choice putting it on 360 + PS3.

When Resident Evil 5 comes out, please resist the urge to make a "Could Resident Evil 5 be done on the Wii?" thread.

Haha ... you're way late for that: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=6226

RE5 will not come to the wii, period. A Wii exclusive spinoff of some sort would be very likely.  Since umbrella chronicles was successful despite being pretty average, they'd be silly not to cash in with something similar at least one more time.

@Dolla Dolla: not quite the same, but yeah seems some people are in denial. (or perhaps it's wishful thinking?)

I just want to make it clear that there are reasons not to port a game. I just don't find the reasons given here against the Wii legitimate, at least not in the blanket terms being used.

except it won't be a port, aleast in the conventioal way. No one has answered my question here. Why won't capcom port DMC4 or Lost planet to the Wii when they are all too eager to port RE4, RE0, and Okami instead?

Let me tell you RE4, Okami and RE0 those games were based on last generation of graphics and those games could be easiely ported and could save time and money. The games that are mentioned DMC 4 and Lost Planet are not easiely ported and it would need extreme reworking in physics and etc. To be honest Wii is no a Ps3 so it cannot produce those games. Of course they could do it, nothing stops them but you may call Capcom kinda lazy for not wanting to rework everything. Maybe if wii was more to the level of Ps3 and Xbox then you would see it for sure. Let me tell you don't want Lost planet. There's my answer.

Exactly, and that's my point-so I don't why LordTheNightKnight keeps pushing this. Capcom simply can't just port the game. They have to rework the game. Whether or not they decide it's worth it or not-it's up to them, not to us.

I didn't claim they could "just port" it. I know things would have to be redone. My dispute is the assumption that the work would always be too much to be worth it. For some small developers, it would be, but Capcom is not a small developer.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

You mean the Classic Controller does not have dual analog sticks?

For those people that think I can't tell the difference in resolutions I could but not too much and the average consumer doesn't know anything about hd. Most people buy hdtvs for their size.

I also want to say that devs should make a graphic engine that allows ps3 and 360 games to be ported to the wii without too much work. I think it may be possible. We still don't even know the Wiis total specs let alone what it could do graphically. My guest is that SMG uses around 40% of the power that the Wii could use ( this isn't the wiis total power because I doubt it is 100% efficient but it is of the power the wii utilizes. I could see games like re5 ( that are based totally on hd) getting rid of 720/1080p and running on the wii perfectly fine in 480p at around 40-60fps.

Edit: Also I believe when watching a video of a teardown that there is a chip that runs from the cpu to the gpu that helps the cpu calculate the physics. I think this may be wrong though.

But as I said, that's not for us to decide, it's Capcom's decision and they apparently don't think it's worth it.

oh you can tell the difference but the average consumer is blind? What differentiates you from them?
