Did activision become a toy/media company with skylanders. No! Highly doubt Nintendo will become more of a media/toy company because of Amiboos, which are primarly there to sell more hardware.

They did say that they're more open to licensing their franchises with merchandise, so who knows?

All I know is that they already do this with Pokémon.

I'm just waiting for them to start on Pokemon ones. How many different Pokemon are there..? Must be hundreds. How much are amiibos..? 11 or 12 quid each..? That's A LOT of money if someone collects them all. Only a matter of time before we see it happening.

It could become a central part of their business pillars with games perhaps moving into a role of being just one of three pillars -- toys/media (movies and theme parks), gaming (Fusion platform), and quality of life (which I think will be aimed primarily towards senior citizens). 

You might be right! but i would be surprised if before all that we will see a "New Super Mario Lego 3DWorld" for 3ds with Mario in lego style obviously!
