Is there any reason you are saying it is exclusive to the new 3ds other than it was announced at the same time? Seems like a terrible move by nintendo to make a game for a system that the majority of its installed base cant play...

Xenoblade Chronicles Remake Announced For New Nintendo 3DS

By Sato . August 29, 2014 . 4:36am

In this morning’s Nintendo 3DS Direct, Nintendo announced their latest model of the 3DS series with the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL, that has improved features including a more powerful CPU from its predecessor.

During the stream, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that a remake of Xenoblade Chronicles is currently in the works and will be released for the New Nintendo 3DS models.

The remake is something they’ve previously wanted to do for the Nintendo 3DS, but were not able to due to its lack of CPU power, but now that it’s getting a boost with the newer version, it has been made possible.

Satoru Iwata also mentioned that several other titles are in development exclusively for the New Nintendo 3DS. These will not be playable on the old 3DS models.

Wow, that is freaking stupid.  That just ticks me off.  My 3ds is now obsolete... Ugh.

Thanks, added to OP.

If that is exclusive to the new sku that is pretty shitty. I shouldn't have to buy the a third version of the same console to play a game

Think GameBoy color. Also third (at least in the west) version of the same console that was required to play GameBoy color games.

No, not obsolete. It won't stop working. But I am wondering how many new games will only run on the new 3ds version...

Are people certain that this is not playable on the older 3DS models?
This was only just announced, so maybe people have mistranslated. It is possibly released at the same time as the new 3DS in order to coincide with the release. This will help boost sales for for both the game and the new model.

That is my speculation, but I think it makes sense.

ehh... is the new 3ds a redesign, or the successor of the old 3ds o_o I'm confused.

Same. What a dick move... The 3DS released freaking 3 months ago, and now this ? I'm pretty mad right now...

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

Who will buy a whole new system to replay the very same game srly?

HD remake would have been waaaaaaaaaaaaay more interesting.

To replay the same game!? I guarantee you 99% of 3DS owners haven't played Xenoblade. Heck, more than 99% of Wii owners haven't played Xenoblade.

Think Gameboy Color, its both a redesign but a successor in the fact it has better hardware and will have some exclusive games. But 3DS will still recieve most games

F***

One thing I hate about Nintendo are ALWAYS new hardware designs. Sorry but for me, I miss out every time until i'm older and finish school and get job ect. Then I can get what the F I want.
