Forums - Politics Discussion - Why isn't the media covering the killing of an unarmed white youth by a black police officer?

most of the rioting is because people wanting their 15 minutes of fame, if there wasnt so much media coverage, and al sharptons and jesse jackson being race pimps, there would be very little rioting going on. this is made especially evident as most of the looters are non fergeson residents

I've even seen that many of the peaceful protesters have attempted to stop the looting.

Never saw any group complaining of the special attention and rights they get like early retirement, special lines, easier access to university, etc. People just complain about trying to get more rights and less obligations.

Both black and white people spend more time ignoring thier advantages over the other race and would rather play guilt olympics. Is this a surprise at all?

Heck, it's frustrating how nowadays, the general response to racism from many people (this thread included) is "forget about that and pay attention to MY RACE!"

Because that wouldn't get nearly as many view/ratings, which is all it's really about in the end.

You know whats also f'd up.. There are like Reality TV shows about American law enforcement.. Highway chases, spectacular crashes, police blowing out tires with shotguns or spike strips.. The version my country? People who are speeding.. And the action? Wether he may lose his driver license.. Lets not even talk about COPS.. Even the UK version is extremly boring compared to that.. With highlights as: a drunk woman walking home, are those teens hiding weed or does he have car insurance?

Don't you diss COPS! Those shows are actually kind of amusing to watch lol.

As a Black guy, I hate this double standard with the media. The media likes to make Blacks think it's the 1950s. People have been brainwashed to thinking it is. Racism isn't a one way street. The media agenda is to cause separatism and I'm sick of it.

I think many informed Americans feel this way. Although I don't believer there is much racism such as this at all, the media blows it up and all those who are misinformed make the situation worse. It's stupid that the media is dividing the country

The Michael Brown situation really isn't even about Michael Brown. It's about the frustration that black communities have with police officers including the shooting/killings of multiple black men.

There was that black guy who got choked out in NYC for basically doing nothing and died, that didn't get much media attention either. But once in a while something happens that just pisses people off to the nth degree.

I'm white and I get that.

I won't play the guilty game. But if you want to compare the allegdely advantage life gives by been while compared to inconstitutional class benefits (constitution states everyone is equal in law) it's your choice. I don't care about race I just find ridiculous the demand for special rights. Everyone is equal in law but by saying black, women and others need special leverage to compete that would be an understatement they are inferior.
