Forums - Nintendo - Operation Platinum Is Aiming To Get Bayonetta 2 To Sell One Million Copies On Wii U

well, would be cool if it did sell 1million, but the first one by vgc data sold more than 2m and was apparently a comercial failure, so..

It seems that the reality of Bayonetta is setting in. Because if the aim of the campaign is to approach a million sold, then it's obvious that the sales expectations are not that optimistic.
I take nothing away from the game, I'm sure that it will be of excellent quality, but 500K is probably much more realistic.

The movement is a direct response to third-party publishers that say Nintendo fans don’t purchase their games and the console isn’t worth supporting.

So in an attempt to show that 3rd party games sell people are going to buy a Nintendo published game? That works how?

Hey, thinking logical can be hard sometimes

Soooooooo... Instead of Nintendo/Platinum Games doing marketing, or convincing people yo buy Bayo2, we reached a point were gamers are begging others to buy a game, so it is succesful.
How low can Nintendo fans go?

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

With good marketing it should pass 1 million, but I don´t think Nintendo will promote it well.(Hope I am wrong)

You guys are being too harsh. They just want to help with the marketing, nothing wrong with that.
In fact, don't we consider mouth to mouth one of the most important factors in sales? This may have little impact in the first week, but could help the game LT.

For one, i was going to get it anyway.

They will promote it, they've already started promoting it in EU with the early release to reviewers who have been showering it with praise.

Well shit! If it's going to take a major fan movement to get B2 across the 1 million line then either they are backing the wrong game on which to base a campaign for 3rd party support, or they will wind up proving that 3rd party games really don't sell.well on Wii U.

A third party game selling almost as well as MK8 is really what they need.

I think is a mistake on the description (or at least I hope so), it is an attempt to show that Mature games sell, even if those are not developed directly by Nintendo.

OT: I don't think it will happen, the hype is too low and it has not reached the general public... unless they put a NINTENDO in big letters on the game box, the 90% of the owners of the Wii U will not bother at all, maybe it can reach 700k, maybe even less, just look at DKC:TF and compare.
