That is true. I remember clearly back then by the original Bayonetta's release, there were commercials for it everywhere. That's not the case now for the sequel.

Lifetime i think it has a chance but end of year, I don't think so.

Having said that stranger things have happened. It would need the full force of Nintendo's marketing, +/- bundles, + great reviews and widespread awareness that you are getting a free game with it.

The other thing in it's favour is SSB, i think the audiences for those games are likely to overlap to an extent. The fact that a bunch of people will be picking up a WiiU for SSB could definitely work in Bayonetta's favour. Furthermore a cross-buy promotion, which Nintendo has been fond of in the last 6 months, could help to seal the deal.

Most people dont seem to have high hopes for the game. For some reason I do and think it should do 1m in 2014.
Reasons:
1) Bayonetta 1 remasterd is coming free include with the game.
2) There are no other games of this genre on the other current gen consoles.
3) Nintendo has picked momentum and it looks like it might do well on the holidays. More consoles and people will get the latest game wich is this.
4) So far, all the reviewers who have played the demo have loved it. Im not sure if a complete reviw is out, but Im sure it will score around 9.

Hopes:
1) I think nintendo learned their lesson and will start to market their games.
2) Its coming near the holidays so there is a chance that even thou the first game comes free, they could still do a bundle.
3) The ps4/x1 war results have marked the ps4 victorious, so the x1 will sell a lot less and the wii u will pick up a litle attetintion causing it to sell more and the game.

Smash is going to push a lot of hardcore to buy the console, which are likely to buy more than one game obviously...

I know it doesn't mean much, but I have 3 friends who are getting the U when Smash lands.

Well, Bayonetta 2 US preorders are currently at just under 41k with 11 weeks left until release, while Bayonetta had US preorders for PS3 and 360 at about 33k and 35k, respectively, by the week before release. And it got another 1k preorders in the most recent week. If it only gets that many per week for the next 10 weeks, it'll be at 51k.

Given that Bayonetta managed to sell 1.14 million on PS3 and 0.89 million on 360, if we take preorders to be a reasonable measure of hype, Bayonetta 2 should sell well lifetime.

Unfortunately, because Bayonetta released outside of Japan in January, we can't get a reasonable feel for how many copies Bayonetta 2 could sell in the holiday months immediately after release.

Anyway, I think the true test is how much Nintendo pushes the game. If they do it right, I do think 1 million by the end of the year is possible. Chances are that a reasonable proportion of people getting it would be buying a Wii U for it in that case. If they don't push it, I think 500k is probably a more likely scenario, with 1 million being a possible lifetime sales number.
