That's just idiotic, I mean the company responsible for maintaining his files securely will go and find out exactly what happened since their reputation as a secure avenue to store information with online is in danger because of this "hack"

Whatever happened to Phil Fish saying he was fucking off from the public? he loves drama too much to make a smart move.

The real kicker is, the 1.5gb file that was instantly available on the website the moment it was "hacked" (fishy as fuck), contained data that will get whoever actually posted it, a lengthly jail scentence.

If it was Fish, he is going down.

Just to debunk a couple of things. Firstly, everything that was posted on the website that was hacked was also posted on pastebin at the same time.

Secondly, the 1.5GB archive was never hosted on the hacked website, it was always hosted on hugefiles from the start.

Thirdly, that massive archive had a dump of lots of emails in it, so it's safe to assume that his email was also compromised (as far as I know, you can't pull gmail emails from a hosted website), so it's entirely possible that a majority of the details that were harvested were from that and then pushed to the website when everything was ready.

It also appears that a Fez developer has confirmed the hack and stated that the Polytronics website isn't hosted by cloudflare, it's merely their caching service.

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

So Fish faked the hack? Or did he really get hacked?

His behavior the last few days was obnoxious.

They probably hacked his email.. which explains how they got the files.. then its easy to gain access to his ftp server.. all codes are probably in his mail..
They then decided this was a good time to leak everything to the public with the Zoe Quinn stuff going own..

OK, I'm getting convincing info from both sides now. Was this a real hack, one orchestrated with Fish's knowledge, or completely fake?

Password encryption is a pretty big joke on a wordpress (think polytron was a wordpress site) site.. heck I do it from time to time for some websites if for example the old webmaster has died and no one has the admin password. All the user accounts can be exposed fairly easily.. and since most people use the same password for a lot of sites..

Allow me to be skeptic of this. And again, passwords to what?

passwords of the site users accounts.. wordpress uses a md5 encryption.. if they got to the database the password is stored like

21232f297a57a5a743894a0e4a801fc3

then it easy to reverse the hash to a word http://www.hashkiller.co.uk/

I would expect them to add a salt to the password. Also, there was no login on that website.
