Forums - Gaming - Polytron and Phil Fish Hacked, tons of Personal Info Leaked

this hack is a red herring, the more you dig into the details the more you find just how much bullshit it really is, orchestrated bullshit intended to frame /v/ while at the same time having an excuse to ditch the company and IP.

If you genuinely believe he was hacked, you're going to be in for quite the shock once their CDN provider investigates the supposed breach.

Since Polytron is on CloudFlare, and their provisions include a triple-redundancy to prevent hackers from changing the website unless they simultaneously hack all three server centers (which would be nothing short of a miracle), the only way these main page changes happened are through the admin account. (Not to mention the authentication protocol...)

So either Phil doesn't do much to protect his passwords/usernames or he's (or someone close to him is) going to be in a lot of deep shit when CloudFlare does an IP track on the admin account.

Having read up on what is in the data file, Microsoft, Sony, and the FBI will possibly get involved... is any hacker who could actually do this stupid enough to get said parties involved?

For more info as stuff comes out from /v/ and others digging into this: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=126556583&postcount=1296

Why do people always end up accusing yotsuba for these shit.

Whenever an anon would do some shit like that, he would shout about it on every fuckin roof. If noone does than it's not them

I guess thats what you get for being an asshole.. Maybe that thaught him a lesson.
Stuff like this shouldnt happen to anyone though.

Password encryption is a pretty big joke on a wordpress (think polytron was a wordpress site) site.. heck I do it from time to time for some websites if for example the old webmaster has died and no one has the admin password. All the user accounts can be exposed fairly easily.. and since most people use the same password for a lot of sites..

Allow me to be skeptic of this. And again, passwords to what?

passwords of the site users accounts.. wordpress uses a md5 encryption.. if they got to the database the password is stored like

21232f297a57a5a743894a0e4a801fc3

then it easy to reverse the hash to a word http://www.hashkiller.co.uk/

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Hackers usually target:
A. Douchebags
B. Well known people.
He just happened to be both. He should have better security.

Zoe and Phil fish have been making threads on /v/ all day trying to egg them on, and make /v/ seem like the culprits.

http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/259200813/thank-you-4chan-for-teaching-this-fucker-a-lesson

Its utter bullshit, however. theyre both playing mind games to divert attention away from the main issue and gather sympathy.

That's just idiotic, I mean the company responsible for maintaining his files securely will go and find out exactly what happened since their reputation as a secure avenue to store information with online is in danger because of this "hack"

Whatever happened to Phil Fish saying he was fucking off from the public? he loves drama too much to make a smart move.
