Forums - Gaming - Dev: "The Witcher 3 will likely not hit 1080p on consoles."

Which would you prefer?

1080p with some less effects / lower textures 22 11.89%

Best textures , effects, ... 110 59.46%

Doesn't matter getting it on PC 52 28.11%

Total:184

Not shocking but I'm still getting it for PS4.

Since Microsoft are their partner, it smells party clause

Please Google what the parity clause actually is -_-

No need but i advice you to google common sense, they are partner

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Every game can get 1080p on Xbox One and PS4 but it takes time.
Swear to god it's like people forget that games have budgets. If they spent more time on the game it can get 1080p but that means more money.

*Looks at Call of Duty Ghosts and Battlefield 4*

What does being marketing partners have to do with resolution?

If this comes out under 1080 p on PS4 and with the exact same resolution as XOne there will be so much parity clause beeing shoutted around...

And it would be justified

No it would be idiotic as always. Since no one seems to understand what the parity clause actually means.

Agreed, parity clause does not mean res and fps parity. However it is likely to be a legit claim that PS4 can handle 1080p and that the developer made the games the same res and fps to keep MS happy. We already know MS is not happy for multiplats to release at a lower res than PS4. So it's not beyond reason that if the dev can't hit the same res on Xbox one even with MS help that MS will put pressure on to drop Ps4 res. It will be up to the dev to decide whether to cave in or not.

We know MS was happy to slightly compromise fps for 1080p on Diablo III.

If an open world like Watch Dogs couldn't then I very much doubt that PS4 can easily get The Witcher III there. Yes there will be better optimization but we'll have to see. PC will be the main platform for this game. I don't get why you guys see PS4 as this ultimate console that can do everything PC can do.

Who is this so called "you guys" all i see people saying is that the power gap between ps4 and Xb one is enough to be able to say, when it comes to multiplats, "anything you can do I can do better." If the xb one version of a game can do 900p then the PS4 version can certainly do 900+Ap and A>1. And if the xb one version can do 1080p 30fps then PS4 can certainly do 1080p 30+Bfps and B>1.

There may be legit practical reasons for parity such as there is no point making one version 40fps and the other 30fps. But if the capacity exists to have one version hit the standard performance benchmarks but the other can't then devs should not be downgrading the performance of one version so that both have the same performance specs on the game case.

Is it possible for W3 to be 1080p on PS4? I don't know. But I do know that if Xb one can hit 900p at a solid 30fps then for sure PS4 can put out a better resolution with the same solid fps. And quite possibly that could be 1080p. If Xb one can only manage variable 30fps then maybe PS4 can't hit 1080p with a reliable enough fps. I doubt we'll get a truly straight answer out of the dev, because they can't give a straight answer without acknowledging that PS4 has better hardware.

Like CDProjeckt said, when you have a partner, you dont want to frustrate him.

Now the resolutiongate became so important, it's easy to think why the 2 versions are equal if they are, despite these developers being really good.

Like Binary explained you.

So you actually believe Sony is allowing devs to downgrade a game because MS said so? And why bring up a clause that has absolutely nothing to do with resolution. Everytime someone does it it makes them look ignorant and their posts pointless.

it's also a price of multiplatform development, they'll never squeeze as much out of these systems as exclusives. always been that way

Question is, how much will I have to tone down to get it to run 1080p/60fps on my PC...

witcher 2 wasn't all that well optimized
