Bad year? Maybe in sales. But in terms of reasons to buy it wasn't. MS threw everything they had at the One, but still not many people bought it. Massive ad campaigns. The most hyped game I think I have ever seen, Titanfall. A dropping of mandatory Kinect, which put it at the exact same entry price as the PS4, something many Xbox fans were saying was the only reason the PS4 was outselling the One. 2014 even had months before it started for people to cool down about the old DRM policies.
If 2014 was a bad year, can't wait to see what 2015 is like. Maybe a $50-$100 pricecut, which Sony will match, so will do little for the One. Maybe Halo. Sure, that'll help in the holidays, but by how much? I think a lot of people who want Halo have already bought the One. And a $299-$349 PS4 Holiday/Black Friday Bundle will tear it up next year.
