I agree that such insistance on her bad looks could get you in trouble.
I also agree that it doesn't make her "partners" look good that they were all associated with her.

Whatever. Don't respect people who don't respect their own bodies.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Neither do I, except for gabe newell that is. That guy is like Buddha to me.
So I guess you go to the gym ? Maybe we should make a thread about gamers on vgchartz who practice sports so we can wash away the shame.
She cheating on her boyfriend shouldn`t be even an issue because it doesnt matter. But this gaming journalist should be fired..

Because generally when men in the gaming industry cheat or take sexual bribes, it's not news worthy and no one cares.
But despite the fact there is no evidence that she did anything unethical or tried to bribe journalists, the internet and gaming community are villifying this woman. And then taking this as an opportunity to bash women and feminism. It's really nothing more than misogny in the gaming community rearing its ugly head. Nothing about this story has anything to do with feminism or feminists, but the comments in this thread prove that feminism is still relevant and needed.
If she did indeed cheat on her boyfriend, that's a personal issue between them as a couple. That's none of our business. Neither is the amount of sexual partners she has. If she did try to bribe the journalists then yes, she is responsible for unethical behavior - but the journalists should also be held responsible as well.

Actually, the reason why there was such a large outcry is because major media outlets didn't cover the story at all and the story was censored on numberous sites. That just created a bit of a Streisand effect, making the whole situation much larger.
There is plenty of evidence that there has been professional fault on Zoe Quinn's part, from sleeping with a journalist who covered her game, to her boss and other industry figures, in addition to accusations that she used her gender and played the victim to help silence people or get publicity, not just now but in the past as well. There are a lot of ugly aspects of the gaming industry rearing their head here, but I would say the White Knighting of the press and many community members is the worst and the most undeniable.
People need to stop trying to brush this under the rug...as I've said multiple times, there are plenty of things to talk about here and your blind accusations of misogyny are ignorant and tactless.
It kind of seems weird to me that people are shouting down anyone who wants to talk about this, and saying they must be an "evil MRA".
Isn't that like if a guy was caught telling women he would write positive reviews about games if they slept with him, and when people found out, anyone who had a problem with it was a "crazy feminist", and people who "didn't care" were saying "he can sleep with whoever he wants"?

The story was likely censored because there was and still is not enough evidence to justify the accusations. The accusations, articles and videos circulating seemed more like slander and defamation of character due to their lack of proof, and is therefore probably why they were taken down.
But there isn't "plenty of evidence", it's mostly just speculation/theory and accusations from a disgruntled boyfriend - not the most reliable of sources.
"accusasions that she used her gender and played the victim" - the key word here is accusasions. There is no proof of this.
They are not blind accusations of misogny. This thread is full of comments that amount to little more than slut-shaming her for allegedly having sex with 5 men; there are numerous posts commenting on her looks (which is irrevant to the topic but is always brought up when women are involved); and there are posts bashing feminists/feminism and supposed SWJs for imaginary complaints that haven't been made. There are also the obligatory posts that complain about the oh-so-unfair treatment men get, even though when it comes to sex and cheating men are always treated more favorably than women. Not everyone here has posted misogynistic comments but there are plenty of them, and that isn't really deniable.

So why was comp sci so much more popular amongst women in 1984 than the women of your generation? Why were women three times more geeky 30 years ago? Why would they flee from an industry with a bright future that they seemed to have a pretty firm stake in? Here's a challenge for you: Can you find me one example of a female game developer who doesn't think her gender is a barrier? Because I only seem to be reading those rare edge cases where actual, working female game developers find it problematic. |
Dude, do you realize the very person you are talking to when you're saying this, is a female games developer, who has worked at a number of "AAA" studios?
Kindly take your stereotyping brush and stop trying to paint the world as you want to see it.
Lol professional gaming "journalism"
It's a joke since its inception.
