Actually, the reason why there was such a large outcry is because major media outlets didn't cover the story at all and the story was censored on numberous sites. That just created a bit of a Streisand effect, making the whole situation much larger. There is plenty of evidence that there has been professional fault on Zoe Quinn's part, from sleeping with a journalist who covered her game, to her boss and other industry figures, in addition to accusations that she used her gender and played the victim to help silence people or get publicity, not just now but in the past as well. There are a lot of ugly aspects of the gaming industry rearing their head here, but I would say the White Knighting of the press and many community members is the worst and the most undeniable. People need to stop trying to brush this under the rug...as I've said multiple times, there are plenty of things to talk about here and your blind accusations of misogyny are ignorant and tactless. |
The story was likely censored because there was and still is not enough evidence to justify the accusations. The accusations, articles and videos circulating seemed more like slander and defamation of character due to their lack of proof, and is therefore probably why they were taken down.
But there isn't "plenty of evidence", it's mostly just speculation/theory and accusations from a disgruntled boyfriend - not the most reliable of sources.
"accusasions that she used her gender and played the victim" - the key word here is accusasions. There is no proof of this.
They are not blind accusations of misogny. This thread is full of comments that amount to little more than slut-shaming her for allegedly having sex with 5 men; there are numerous posts commenting on her looks (which is irrevant to the topic but is always brought up when women are involved); and there are posts bashing feminists/feminism and supposed SWJs for imaginary complaints that haven't been made. There are also the obligatory posts that complain about the oh-so-unfair treatment men get, even though when it comes to sex and cheating men are always treated more favorably than women. Not everyone here has posted misogynistic comments but there are plenty of them, and that isn't really deniable.
