Guess what? I can watch all those football matches, as well as other sports, and also Skype with my friends everywhere just for the price of Internet.

Not only don't I need to pay for XBL Gold, I don't even need to have an XBox console.

So, I don't see what you are bragging about.

I can do it all in one place while shouting commands to my shiny console just for the price of internet.

And play Forza while I wait.

Too bad it was completely on topic to Xbox fans giving a pass to things people should disagree about. I don't care that those policies have been changed. You guys still supported Netflix/Hulu/ESPN/whatever to be behind a paywall...services you already pay for. In the context of "of course the same people who excused MS making them pay for online, without giving anything in return, are going to excuse 3rd parties for doing these subs just cause its exclusive to the One", it was pretty relevant. He was going on about how XBL "gave him something in return" in the form of the ESPN App which "let's him watch MLS, Portuguese League, NFL, NBA, etc", as if his XBL sub got him those games, when in actuality, apparently, his ISP got him those games

Try and keep up before being sarcastic.

Yeah I am aware of the post that was made that started this whole tangent. It's not really related to the thread at all, was just a drive by pot-shot at an entire fanbase.

lol @ "should disagree about". Why? Because VGC forum guy says so? Per usual you can't grasp the simple notion that different people value things differently.

Also maybe ISP's work differently where you live but where I live the apps Live gives you access to CAN allow you to watch things you'd normally have to pay for through your ISP which just makes the XBLG fee all the more of a value to some people. I, for example, can lease out one less cable box and still watch FIOS television thanks to the FIOS app on Live. That used to be locked behind a paywall, might still be. But I can even watch some networks that I don't/didn't have a subscription to. So it's even better. I know for some, the ESPN app was exactly the same. It seems you should take your own advice about keeping up. Maybe you just aren't following what he is trying to say? Idk.

But at the end of the day, who cares? Does it relate to EA Access in any way whatsoever other than you to point and mock people because they used to formerly support no longer existing services that you personally thought they shouldn't? I mean, ok. I guess some will take whatever victory they can.

Aaaaaaand you've missed the point yet again.

It's all related because it's you guys, once again, backing something that is detrimental to the gaming industry. "Of course the same people who excused MS making you pay for online will excuse 3rd parties doing it because it's something on the Xbox". That's what you're doing.

The topic's content may be a "tangent" (referring to this ESPN App, amongst other things, being acceptable to be behind a paywall even though you already pay for it), but it all falls back on the original accusation. Because you guys have been doing it for over a decade.

I mean...."lol @ should disagree about? Why? Because VGC forum guys say so". No, because hiding the Netflix you already pay for behind XBL was wrong. Hiding Internet Explorer to use the internet you already pay for behind XBL was wrong. Hiding multiplayer, which is half of a game and was free everywhere else behind XBL is wrong. And the Xbox community said it was ok to do. Hence the lead up to "of course, the same people who excused all that other bad stuff will excuse the next bad thing".That being EA Access. We've already been wary about other publishers doing it, and all the Xbox side has done was "stop looking at this negatively. Quit speculating. You don't know that that's gonna happen" to try and support EA Access. And what happens? Activision and Ubisoft are already looking into getting their own subs now.

On a side note: Xbox Live doesn't "give you access" to any apps. Any app available on Xbox can be found on other devices. Your FIOS, for example, can be found on any blu ray player with Samsung SmartHub. Or if you have an iPhone (or something with iOS), you can shoot it to your TV with Apple TV. Or just hook an HDMI cable up to your computer (or use Chromecast). And more. None of which make you pay a sub. And I don't know where you get that XBL lets you watch things you'd normally have to pay for with your ISP. Like what? What normally for-pay entertainment via your ISP can you get for "free" with XBL?

I don't like this. Surely they'll end up making something as... unappealing as UPlay.

I will never support total bullshit forced dependency tactics like this from publishers. No one should. If people don't pay for these things, the gaming industry will go back to primarily focusing on making quality game releases instead of greed. These sub services can go hang out with Evil Within and its singleplayer season pass unsold on the shelf as far as my wallet is concerned.

What if I told you you could purchase seasons of shows on you favorite channels without having to pay over a hundred dollars a month for 1300 channels and channels you only watch once a week?

Do you people like having 15 cooking channels when you watch maybe 4-6 channels regularly across all 1300?

Like a full season of 8 episodes or 8 hours of programming for $10. Or if it were HBO/Showtime/Starz you could buy just those channels for $10 a month and have access to all the on demand movies, documentaries, catalog of shows? Sound good? Well thats what we have now with videogames. We buy in with the hardware and we can pick and choose our "shows" (games) from any publisher (channel) as we please.

People that praise this fall into two categories to me: Those who need to convince themselves this is good in light of console wars and EA Access on Xbox One, and those who can't see passed the bridge of their nose anything further than a month down the line. You will be sold a product as a bonus that slowly turns to an essential product and then the price will increase as more "value" is added that wont even pertain to you. The same as cable TV providers offer 3 packages full of shit you never use.

If other publishers follow suit and the market falls for it expect to be subsidizing terrible games just to access the few you play from these publishers.

Not really, your point is just irrelevant and wrong. You're not going to understand, you're too deeply engaged in console warz and "you guys!!" bullshit.

You guys, lol.

Detrimental, lol.

Since when are 3rd parties making anyone pay for online? Since when is this optional service making anyone do anything? I think I understand why you are harping on the past, your tin foil hattery doesn't really have a leg to stand on in the present. It's ok. But it doesn't really open up any sort of healthy discussion. I mean hey guys u guys were all like "boooooooooo!" when only m$ charged for online now sony does and ur all like "whooooooooooo!". Baseless generalizations are fun.

The topics content is fine. Things got stupid with that post though and the detour its been taken on.

Why do I need to think it's ok that MS put Netflix behind a paywall in order to buy Live? What if I just want an awesome MP experience? When I pick my cable package, it might include 20 home repair channels and 5 MTV stations but it doesn't mean I need to "support" them or "accept" what they do just because they are included.

MS isn't even the first company to build their own network or charge for online play. Are you sure you're directing this bellyaching at the right "you guys"? Sorry, I don't know how these team warz workz.

Why do I care that the apps are on other devices? You do understand value, and how different people will value things differently, yes?

It's awesome that there is a Samsung BR player that also has FIOS TV. If I were in the market for a BR player, that would certainly make whichever Samsung players have it more appealing to me. Of course, I already have an Xbox One, which is also a BR player, so... yeah. You can connect the dots. I buy Live during $40 sales. It literally pays for itself with the FIOS app after 1/3 of a year. That's value. Same logic applies to all those other devices you listed. That's great. I don't have or want those products though.

And I have used the FIOS app to watch multiple channels when I did not have them, including Animal Planet and MTV. Plus the ESPN app when I did not have that, plus more recently the NFLN. Though its irrelevant now as I have all those channels in my package. Hope that helped, not going to reply anymore. Good luck against "you guys".

@ the bolded, that's exactly what EA Access is. We have the ability with cable television to only buy certain channels like HBO or Showtime. Or even if we aren't subscribers, we can digitally buy seasons of shows we want.

Is HBO Go bad for consumers? Has it killed the industry? Your post reads like you prefer customers having more choice and freedom on how they buy content. EA Access doesn't affect any of that. It's actually the exact opposite of what you're implying is wrong with cable.

guilty now?

You should never show that. No.

Gamers will never be taken seriously under that moniker.

Bank of America, Monsanto, etc... are all harming peoples lives but internet folks have to bitch about a luxury item.

It should speak volumes to you that EA got that title with some of the US companies out there. I do find it funny you are talking about gamers complaining about a luxury item and you are on here doing the exact same thing for hours each day.

You are here talking about how EA is giving you such a great deal and not going to do some of these things  people are worried about. But they have shown repeatidly to not give a shit about their customers. Being a former big time Battlefield player (bf3) and Madden player. I speak from expirence. Battlefield 4 was one of the worst bug riddled games and still to this day has MANY bugs still in it. They didnt have any problem collecting money from premium members, dlc purchasers, early people that bought the game. They gave nothing to each make up for it. Madden hasnt changed in YEARS.. I do hope you actually read the link i sent as opposed to just blowing it off and continuing to believe EA has got your back.
