Also, some of the members' signatures and avatars don't... really help much. Seeing scantily clad women and bouncing boobs while trying to scroll through the boards isn't exactly appealing to most ladies, surprisingly enough! I've gotten used to it, having been following the industry for awhile, but ya gotta admit, most males would be none to keen on joining a board where the majority was women and several members per thread have a signature with homoerotic pictures of shirtless men.... hmm.... I might be giving myself ideas.

You may have missed it, but there are plenty of pictures of shirtless men around here too...heres just one example:

the problem with some sigs is just that they might be NSFW and make it awkward to open the forum page at workplace or a library or any other public environment. i dont feel offended by them but they can make the entire forum feel kinda NSFW regardless of what thread i'm trying to read

Heck, some mods themselves used to have avatars of shirtless men! ( * cough* Axum and Trucks * cough*)

That outfit was designed by a woman though

That doesnt really matter though. Its still pandering to male fantasies in a way that makes this media a lot more juvinile than most care to admit

Kinda veering off topic a little, but what's wrong with that?

Objectifying women for the pleasure of men? That's not wrong? =) What really grinds my gear is that Samus is one bad ass woman, and seeing her like that.... man...

Let's not forget that guys would look weird if they would stick out their tounges like that!

Some girls are so cute men can't control their tounges and it just flops out. Its science. Though that  smile the dog does at the end is a wee bit creepy ..

Science or not, a guy still looks weird with the tongue out like that! I'm not talking from personal experience though!

I agree 100%

Yeah, seeing Samus in fairly typical work out clothes must be so horrible...wait wut? I've responded to you multiple times about this, because it is just so utterly ridiculous but you just keep going on about it.

Also, yes she is sexy, but is that wrong? Sexy=/=Sexism and there are plenty of idealized men in games too...

That's never gonna change. And honestly. If I did run into a fourm like that. And wanted to Join, I wouldn't care about those photos. I've seen photos like that here away. My own signature is close to that. I'd only get pissed off if like when those spamers posted those penis porn photos. You could block said photos with the signature disabler. Or any browser addons, if they personally annoy you. There are some Gifs that take way too long to load. So I block them.

Most of that portion of the comment was made in jest. I never stated it had to change or that it should, but it is a possible deterrant for women. Yes, I know there are a few picture of shirtless men around here as well, but the amount and context of the situation does change the perception.

First of all, there is a difference between "sexy" and "sexist".
Second of all, what is the problem with Samus dressing in similar attire to what a significant amount of women wear when exercising? That is relatively common exercise gear, and it is similar to the typical outfit for Women's MMA...
Third, the problem is not about objectification of women, the idea is the general idealization of both sexes in many regards, and I don't really see that as a problem. Its normal that most characters in every medium are attractive, and sometimes, both men and women are put in situations and outfits which highlight their attractive aspects.

Yes there is, and I guess it depends on the situation which way it goes.

What kind os a point is that? What need is there for Samus to wear a bikini in this situation? It's a FIGHT. To the death. Yeah, let's wear a bikini - better look good if I die! There is no need for Samus to run around like that in this situation. None.

Having attractive figures in a video game is one thing, dressing them up as sexy as possible for no reason what so ever is... objectifying.

Yeah, I guess no woman would ever wear something like that in a fight...no woman at all...

OH WAIT:

But yeah, I guess it totally doesn't fit in with Smash, because all of the other fighters are dressed in full battle gear, like suspenders, or a tie, or nothing...good point.

I just answered you, but I guess I'll do it again :P

The problem is not that she's sexy - that's all fine and dandy. But why should she be wearing that outfit? Yes, it's an old outfit from a previous game, but 99% of all people wouldn't know her if they should her in that dress up without telling you that that's Samus.
