Forums - Sales Discussion - If Everyone's Friends Have Xbox One's Who are all these people buying PS4s

I read this forums and many other gaming forums alot.  I don't comment much but I do notice trends (as I am a political scientist by trade).

I am wondering after reading alot of the response to PS4 doing so much better than Xbox ONe sales, that alot of user here and on other forums say: "I got Xbox because that's where my friends game, so I don't care about sales" etc. etc.  Okay so in VGC Forum Dewellers view, who do you all think are buying PS4s then if no one's friends have PS4s?

Sony sold 80 million ps3 I'm sure whoever owned ps3 gonna buy ps4 so don't be surprised if ps4 selling good ps3 got nothing anymore So people buying ps4 now and  I'm sure who owned xbox 360 will buy xbox one no matter of what Xbox one not selling good becaue people still enjoying their Xbox 360 and I'm sure when the game they want comes out only for Xbox know they will buy xbox one and lots of people own both console too

People like me that bought a PS4 because it was discounted. My PS4 is still in its original sealed box and its the 4th week now. (lack of games T.T)

Its the first system I have not touched within the first 24h after buying it.

I find that hard to believe or you are just not a huge gamer. It has games, that argument has been debunked several times.  either that or 9,999,999 people disagree with you

Europe and "rest of the world" it seems.

Unless the NPD leak was wrong and the PS4 is trending much higher...

What NPD leak?

Well, first of all, I live in the US where the sales gap between Xbox One and PS4 is pretty small.

I have to say that I, along with the majority of my friends (about 10 of us) own Xbox Ones, with just 2 of those owning PS4's in addition.

It has been a weird switch for me. I have over twice the amount of friends (locally) on the Xbox 360. Now the numbers are switching. I have 12 that are on PS4, and 5 on the Xbox One. It seems like all my Xbox One friends have owned it since launch.  The diversity between the two is also strange.

Diversity in what way?

found your problem.  you heard that statement and assumed they meant xbox one.  in reality, they meant xbox 360.  as of yet no xbox 360 owner has purchased a gen 8 console because the 360 is so satisfying.   all current gen 8 owners are people abandoning the shit-sandwhich that was the ps3 of which 1/3 have abandoned playstation for the xbox one.   as soon as MS gives the go-ahead for 360 owners to start upgrading the xbox one will dominate the ps4.

Sony employees. :p jk

Feel sorry for the people who haven't had the chance to even try the Xbox One, I know a bunch of people bash a certain console without even have played it or owned it. Sad truly. I mean at least give the console a try at a friends house or at a game store (they usually always have demo units). Tying yourself down to one console never made sense to me.

Side note: 90% of my friends have an Xbone or will be getting one in the future. Only a few have decided to go to PS4 (though that small percent happens to be a couple of good friends who I'm trying to convince to get an Xbox One)

Why do I need to own an inferior console to know that I don't like it, or the business practices or "vision" of the company behind it?  If you enjoy your XB1, great...have fun.  But I (and 10 million others) didn't like the lower specs of the XB1...or the library HALF the size of the PS4....or the UI (can NOT stand "Metro"!)...or the idea of Kinect...I also don't like the XB1 controller (360s was better IMHO).

As to "tying myself down to one console"?  Don't make me laugh.  There is not a SINGLE GAME that is Xbox exclusive that I can't live without!  The most appealing exclusive they have coming is Halo MCC...and I already own (and have played to death) Halo 1, 3, and  4 on my 360.

Not only do they not have any compelling exclusives (again, this is my personal opinion, yours may differ), but the VAST MAJORITY of games this generation will be multiplatform...and in almost every single case, those games look and play better on the PS4.

In any case, WHEN I buy a 2nd console, I am going to buy the WiiU, not the Xbox.  They have FAR more compelling exclusive games...and they offer game experiences that don't rely on having the most powerful hardware...it also has more "couch based" multiplayer games.  It, and it's library will complement my PS4 nicely.

In the end, for me, it really comes down to supporting the companies I believe do the most for their customers.  I won't be supporting MS, NOT because they have a lower powered box...but mainly because they keep trying to push it as being "the best" when it is obviously not.  It's because they don't do things "for the gamers" as they claim, but to try to pull one over on us.  It's not limited to the "Mattrick era" either.  Spencer orchestrated the moneyhatting timed exclusivity for Tomb Raider.  A move that benefits Microsoft, sure...but at the expense of the gaming community as a whole.  Bottom line...for me, there are PLENTY of reasons not to own an Xbox One...and I don't need to own one to know that it's not the right console for me!

Pretty good point in not needed to own an inferior product to decide you actually don't need it.

You do know, don't you...that there are over NINTY games available for PS4 RIGHT NOW?  (may be over 100 by this point)  If you can't find a game you like, you aren't looking.
