I personally don't mind it being an after thought. Too much gunplay makes a game bland.

True.. But the shoot/cover system looked very generic.. Hence why I thought it was an afterthought.  Just graphically, it looked out of place compared to everything happening on screen.. Especially with the power effects..

What cover system in a modern TPS that's not generic? Give me one example, only one.

MGS

Cause' boxes.

Maybe what I'm thinking is along the lines of poster antfromteshkent.. The protagonist comes off too over powered.. Maybe. Making it seem like the duck/cover/shoot system is unneeded.. I dunno.  Watching the gameplay just made the shooting/cover system seem out of place, especially when the guy was literally walking /running away from the various bullet paths using his powers.  My opinion only man.. But gameplay just seemed lacking.... Excitement?  Not sure.. But regardless.. Graphically, it was impressive.  Just what's been shown atm isn't my cup of tea.

Edit.. As for your question.. I guess all TPS cover mechanics are basically generic cus they are practically the same in every type of cover base shooter.. Just in QB, it really didn't stand out and seemed poorly implemented.  Again.. My opinion based on what I've seen.

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

I was pretty impressed by it and I only saw a pretty low quality version of of the game play video on my 360.

Game looks great visually, gameplay though, uninspired and bland.
Still buying it though

This game looks more next gen than any other games before it imo. Most released games since last year look more like 360/PS3 games with better graphics. This seems to push particles and effects in a way not possible on last gen consoles. Just the speed at what many large objects move at the same time along with multiple particles and the lightning... great work Remedy!

I really enjoyed Alan Wake and this game looks to be of the same quality as far as I'm concerned. If a PC release doesn't happen within 6 or so months after the X1 release, I may be buying a new console.

What about Resogun, Infamous second son & first light? Those particle effects are last gen? QB looks good graphically but the art direction looks bland and gameplay mechanics doesnt do justice with cover system to his super powers unlike infamous.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Pros:
DEM GRAPHICS HOLY SHIT
Awesome time manipulation elements (I am a sucker for those)
Gunplay looks great
Atmosphere and story seem top notch

Cons:
Looks mighty scripted
Core combat seems like it might be generic, kind of like The Order. More time powers and enemy types can certainly change this though, plus the good gunplay and time elements will help as well.

Overall, wow. Did not expect it to look that good.

Looked good but I thought it would be a bit better.

I hear ya. Its a shame when games don't meet unrealistic expectations.
