Forums - Sales - Why is no one talking about the soft XB1 price drop

So then what happens when the Holiday season is over and it's early 2015?  Do you see many XB1 consoles selling at $399 with no game included?

I expect the system, at that time, to either get a real price cut to $349 or the bundling of some new game about to release.  Most likely, MS will just cut the price.

If their Holiday numbers are subpar, it's really a good possibility.

No its not good for gamers, its good for Xbox gamers. Not to mention Phil Harrison being appointed means nothing, its not like he comes has some magic instance buff that makes Xbox all for the gamers now.

So its not good news for gamers, just xbox gamers.

How does Games with Gold affect my PS+ subscription?

Seriously, welcome to 2014 you guys.

It's good for Xbox owners, which is the point -_-

It's also good for gamers who were on the verge of buying one. I was steadfast against the One but I got one today because of the excellent PR that they have had going these days.

It's good news for gamers in general as well, since it allows Microsoft to compete better with the PS4, which in turn improves both consoles.

Doesn't mean the consoles won't sell.

Define "well"?  So far it's looking like MS is averaging (AT BEST, these are VGC numbers, and XB1 has historically been overtracked!) 35,000 consoles/week in NA.  Are they selling?  Yes.  In significant numbers?  Not at all.  They are tracking to take THIRD place behind the WiiU this generation.  I wouldn't call those numbers good, or "doing well".

Here's a guy that I usually watch. He's a little Sony biased on his channel but sometimes speaks truth

He's only not biased when he is saying things you like.

;)

Nah, he doesn't really talk about good MS news, maybe because of the people who input topics for him, but yeah I'm just sayin sometimes he knows what he's talking about.

There is not a lot of Good MS news these days, and the few that are good end up being bad later on.

Pricedrop, Ryse, Dead Rising 3 used to be good news.

Good news for xbox gamers is not always good news for all gamers, not to mention even if reversals are news they aren't really gaining any credibility.

For example, applauding Kinect Removal is silly, when MS is the one who made it mandatory in the first place.

Oh wow, you want me to appreciate correcting your mistakes, please, am I supposed to be impressed with a best in improvement award?

I think it's just for the Holidays. PS4 Destiny bundle is US$ 450 even if it includes a US$ 400 console, a US$ 60 game and 30 days of PS+.

I believe both companies will try to postpone price cuts as long as possible. Consoles are affordable, sell well and will only pick up steam (XO as well), no point in losing money. Hence, before we see a cut, we'll get consoles with larger HDD. We already saw the XO with 1TB, right? Get ready for 1 TB to become the new standard early 2015 with the prices at current levels.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Listening to consumers and removing the bad aspects of a console is always a good thing, no matter how bad the console fucked up in the beginning. Sony had the same issues last gen, and they came back by listening to the consumers and getting things right.

If you don't care about that simple fact though, we have nothing more to talk about.

What does it even mean? You think without those bundles the console wouldn't sell?

Xbone has a weak showing this year and beyond, a digital game bundled won't change that. It won't do anything in Europe, MS can as well stop trying, don't think we'll see much in NA, but it's their best chance for not being embarrased by competition's numbers, and I guess there is still hope for Japan and of course China, the new saviour.

Sony should have done that with the PS3 with your logic. Ruling out this early is........................................

There's tons of good news. Price drop, Kinect requirement removed, bundled-in games, Games with Gold getting better, removal of Netflix/Hulu blocks via Live Gold, 3D BluRay support, Tier 2 launch window announced, Phil Spencer becoming head of Xbox division, EA Access, etc.

There's been plenty of great news.

I wouldn't really say any of that was great news. Most of them are moves of desperation, or attempts to look like parity with their main competitor. EA access is probably going to be terrible and may have horrible affects on the game industry much like XBL and the introduction of DLC had horrible affects. Only real great news out of all of that was Phil Spencer taking over. Everything else merely highlights what their competition did first and still doing better. All of it with the exception of EA access is a damn good start but none of it is great news. Especially for early adopters that bought into the idea of kinect.

They were good for gamers.

New things which are good for gamers ---> good news.

good things for gamers does not = great news when you have been doing terrible things for gamers. They also wern't new things, they were things in the industry that were pretty much expected. Even if they were "new" things that were good for gamers it still would not equate to great news. Doing what is expected of them, what is at this point an inudstry standard doesn't even make good news let alone great news. Great news would be announcing a dozen well made games specifically for kinect that don't suck/mostly unresponsive riddles with bugs or annoyances along with canceling the requirement to pay for gold and promising to only release full and complete games from now on and not chopping them up for DLC. Those would be great news.

I don't see how MS doesn't offically drp the price of the XB1 to at least $350 by or before E3 next year. I even see them dropping it to as low as $300. Its just really the best shot they have. These bundles and timed exclusives really wont make a difference. I dare say we should expect Halo 5 bundled with the XB1 for $300. MS has shown they arent afraid of getting into a price war before (PS2 vs Xbox). I see them taking that route again

I don't even care if you call it good news, but you aren't listening to consumers if you ignored them making them the exact same demands last year and are only acquiescing because you're losing.

I'm not gonna congragulate them for fixing mess they created themselves.
