So I've been seeing a lot of comments lately about how the WiiU has been steadily outselling the XBO worldwide for the last few weeks. Some even think the WiiU will end up outselling it lifetime. For the sake of argument let's say the WiiU does end up beating XBO and takes 2nd place this gen. Will this fix the 3rd party situation for the WiiU? No. Because it does not matter. 3rd parties only care about one thing, how many people buy their games. We have enough data and hard evidence to show us that WiiU owners buy very few games that aren't exclusive to the platform. Despite how the XBO is selling people are still buying games from EA, Activision, Ubisoft etc. And that's ultimately all that matters. 

Even if the WiiU magically ends up second this gen it won't get anymore support than it currently has. Because people still won't be buying any games not published by Nintendo. If you need anymore proof of this then just look at the Wii. Excellent sales but nonexistant 3rd party support.

Because people who own a Wii U and buy third party games often buy those games for either their xbox or playstation for various reasons. Nintendo needs to sort their shit out and make an environment where those people have no reason to buy a third party game on a competing console.

Wii had third party games but not the ones we like. Wii U has very few third parties games including the ones we don't like.

So if Wii U does end up in 2nd place in sales and its sales much better than the Xbox One then it will get third party support in between the Wii and Wii U's current support.

Agreed! Most 3rd party games don't sell on Nintendo, that's just how it is. 

I read this article this morning about the most redicious reason as to why 3rd parties don't support Wii U, kinda reminded me of it from this thread. I won't repost it here, but here is a statement ripped from the article... "I think the real reason why they don’t support Nintendo is because they are afraid of them and their fans." 

Probably, just face it, third party is gone which isn't the worst thing in the world for Nintendo gamers considering we hardly even buy any anyway

I agree with you and I also agree with what the guy from Bethesda said about Nintendo not talking/approaching 3rd party developers when they are making their new consoles. Yeah Sony also did not ask for feedback, but it is PlayStation we are talking about and they just came off from selling 154 million consoles.

And that's exactly why the console is where it is. I'm sure Nintendo appreciates your dedication but don't think for a second they'd not want to be able to appeal more broadly to 3rd party devs. 

Nintendo not caring statement bothers me because its half true. NoA and Reggie cares but I think NoJ doesn't... If NoJ every decides to give up, they should let NoA control Nintendo.
