Forums - Gaming - Something Xbox gamers are now saying

I always thought the whole exclusives discussions is useless. Look how many people buy especially 3rd party games. COD and GTA are the big top sellers on last gen hardware. And the amount of exclusives does not speak for quality, of course. I prefer very good 3rd party games over an ok first party game any time of the day, for sure.

There are a lot of points which makes me buy a system and it's a multidimensional vector and not only exclusives although they are part of it.

I agree with most of what you've written here but I can't ignore that it's the exclusives that tend to sway a person one way or the other. What will happen (whether right or wrong) is that ANY conversation about exclusive games will likely end up with a list of 'so called' exclusives being reduced immediately by anyone debating from the opposite standpoint. Not only will those lists show clearly that Sony have more exclusives now but they'll remove games from the list that are on PC too. Add to that the potential for 'wait and see' gamers and it could eventually slow sales of the XB1 down even more.

No, sure people also choose a console instead of the other for exclusives - it's just not what I do, it's a part of my decision but not the only.

I don't know how one would remove games from lists when they are not available on the other platform but I couldn't care less, to be honest. I had a lot of fun with Mass Effect 3 although it was multiplat. I also had a lot of fun with Forza Horizon 2. And I didn't have more fun with it because it was exclusive but because to me it was a better game (as I like racing games more than shooters ;)).

I think it's bad that this is such a deal nowadays and that the tone in discussions is getting so rough currently.

And let's hope that Xbone sales won't go even further down because then we have a monopole which no one really should support in any way.

Does the average consumer know the PS4 versions are generally better? I doubt it. Don't confuse people like us with the average consumer. They don't go online to observe the visual nuances. I know you'll find that hard to believe.

Why do you just assume that people that are about to spend $400+ on a piece of electronics just throw their money at the cash register blindly? Today, in the era of internet and youtube, all the info is only a click away.

I know, odd right?

PS4 vs X1 graphics isn't Wii vs PS360 graphics. They visual differences aren't as obvious. They don't notice the nuances like you and I.

"Notice on the PS4 version the charcters face is a little more clear, well that's becuase of 1080p! Also there are less jaggies because its using 4x anti aliasing instead of 2x. That completely changes the game experience."

See, I completely agree with that point. If you say that 70% of console buyers don't even know what a pixel is, you probably wouldn't be far from the truth. But people do read opinions from informed websites and users and accept them.

Trivial, but true life examples can be mirrored when buying smartphones or laptops. People have no idea about megapixels, but when given two of them, but one has a 21MP camera, and the other 14, they don't need to know about megapixels, but they know which is better. When given a choice between 2 or 4GB of RAM, they know which is better even if they have no clue what RAM is or what it's used for.

Same applies here, they don't need to look at screenshots or compare videos. When they read that PS consistently has more "peas" and "fps"es than XO, they don't need to understand to know that PS is better for the same price.

As for the Gamestop clerk example, of course my supposition is that all parties are truthful. And when asked would not deliberately misrepresent the features to sell a worse console because of personal preferences.

And, in the end, I absolutely refuse to think I am better than an average customer just because I am a member of a gaming forum. I refuse to belueve that an average person just throws money away without getting informed. Most people who work for their money get informed.

people blow money all they time, are you kidding me? you think a parent is going to care about 1080p 60 frames? Do you think a person that just wants a console for sports games is going to care about connecting the console online and all that other stuff. Seen those examples with my own eyes. maybe informed is the wrong word. The average consumer just does'nt care about such things as rams, etc. some people would deliberately try to sell you  a console because of personal preferences. A worker tried to sell me a wiiu at best buy,for example. I told him I did'nt care and did'nt want to know anything about it. I personally think your giving the average consumer to much credit, but that's just me.

It just means even less of a reason for people to get an Xbox one now. The master chief collection is also rumoured to be coming to PC which will hurt Xbox one sales no end

This is the problem of groups with special interest. Go to a forum about digital cams and tell them what you bought - they will most definitely laugh about you how you wasted your money :)

We are not the masses but we believe we could speak for them while we can't. Not even remotely. People have a lot of decisions to make, every day, and to expect that they do them all with investing hours and hours before is just ridiculous. They don't and they won't, even we don't and won't with every decision.

It's just a coping mechanism. Pay no mind.

Consoles and PCs are not in direct competition. There is of course some cross over but the majority of people I know are console gamers pure and simple...

Alright guys, fun time is over. Let's keep things under control and not attack each other/other companies, please.

Another comment which breaks the rules will result in a ban (from either side), so let's all settle down please.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

if all their exclusives continue going to PC it will hurt them. I think they are smart enough to know that. The devs need to make money too. If they can't make enough money on Xb1 then they either have to go through the hassle of trying to get through contracts so they can move to playstation or they make a move to PC. In the meantime it should give MS incentive to seek out and buy/invest in more developers to create timed exclusives/exclusives. Or They will keep bleeding and their investors will eventually talk them into finally selling off the game division. However that is extremely unlikely and I personally believe they will go the rout of finding more devs which is better for everyone.

But I have said nothing of the sort. Why are you puting words in my mouth, OP :(
