Forums - Nintendo - Safe To Say 3rd Party Support From Wii U Is Pretty Much Gone?

It's weird though, if the RE:REmaster won't come to the WiiU, because usually Resident Evil games fit well with the Nintendo audience and they actually sell pretty decent. Capcom, why?

My guess is Capcom is yanking all support from Wii U. No Monster Hunter 4 HD either (upport of the 3DS game) when Monster Hunter 3 got HD treatment also kinda hints at this.

I think Revelations was like their Wii U swan song. Probably didn't sell what they wanted it to, hence no REMake for Wii U.

I hope not, that would be a shame.

I think it would be shortsighted if they'd point to RE:Revelations HD, every Nintendo fan that wanted it already had it on 3DS. If anything, they should've skipped that port and give us this one instead, as this would easily sell 5 times what REV HD sold on WiiU .

Yup. I used to lobby so hard for 3rd party games on the WiiU. But it soon became evident that Nintendo did and was doing everything in their power to drive them away. Mission accomplished

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Still outselling the X1 somehow though.

Seems as if 3rd parties are giving Nintendo the "You need us more than we need you" treatment and are demanding $$$ up front and/or sweetheart publishing/IP deals to put games on the Wii U at this point.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I agree the 3rd party support sucks but the console is selling much better and is maintaining its lead over Xbone so hopefully there are some games to be announced soon. I mean if Wii U sales hit over 9 million by Xmas surely 3rd parties HAVE to jump on board no????

You only noticed the Wii U's severe famine of third-party games now. Well done you!

Hardware owned:

PC, PS4, 3DS, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3

Most anticipated games (near to mid future):

Zelda U/NX
The Last Guardian

Outselling the XB1 with three markets versus two for a couple of weeks really isn't going to sway third parties.

It's just a result of a MK8 bump for the Wii U and nothing of note being released for the X1 the last few weeks.

That's also assuming VGC's isn't overtracking something somewhere, I tend to think they have problems tracking especially in Europe accurately.

Lets see what July NPD tells us.

Honestly, I don't think Resident Evil is a strong enough name brand anymore to warrant using IT to draw the line. I knew the Wii U would have a bad 3rd party support year in 2014 because of the new hardware; third party would focus on that over the struggling Wii U.

The proof will come if any announcements are heard by the next E3. The Wii U can recover from one bad 3rd party year, but not two.

It's bad, but maybe Nintendo didn't want REmake again for the 3rd consecutive time and that makes sense. RE Revelations also didn't sold very well, and that could have had some weight in the decision as well.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Wii U owners don't buy enough 3rd party games so it shows that they don't really care about them.

Yes, we will get the odd Namco Bandai game here and there (like Project Cars or One Piece)...
... but that will be pretty much it.

Indie will hopefully still come though.
