It's doing well cause it's holding its #3 place from last gen
It's above the Ouya right?

Its doing well because it hasn't lost money like PS3 or been pushed aside like Vita.

MS made some mistakes this gen as their competition has in the past. They're are doing pretty well considering.

Who are you kidding.  This was to be the gen they win.  Yet they managed to lose most soon to be all the market share 360 gained.

They are doin awful aka 5.5 to 1 sales disadvantage in germany and ps4 has taken 63% share between them of x1s home market.

Extremly bad no matter how u spin and excuse their mistakes.

It is doing so good that I am kinda worried it may be frontloaded. Hopefully it will slow down a bit now and sell more consistently throughout its life.

At this point, what interests me is this; will Microsoft be able to, at the very, very least, swing things around enough to start keeping ahead of its predecessor before it runs out of rope? As someone pointed out, the fact that the Xbox One is tracking ahead of the Xbox 360 in terms of sales-at-that-point is due to a massive boost during the holiday season last year; however, in both financial quarters since 2014 begun, the Xbox One has fallen behind the Xbox 360's numbers by varying degrees.

This means that the 'gap' the Xbox One has over its predecessor has been shrinking with every month Microsoft can't outsell the early-days 360. Unless Microsoft can turn things around, sooner or later they might not even have the 'Outselling the 360 at the same period' claim to make. In fact, depending on just how many of the '1,1 million Xbox units shipped' this quarter were 360s, and how many were Ones, Microsoft may have actually, quietly, lost that title already.

To be honest, I think they do have a pretty good chance of keeping their head above water in the future; the 360's next quarter was a mere 900,000k, and the price cut should at least help a little. If not, the holiday quarterly sales for the 360's second Christmas were, surprisingly, supposedly only 1.2 million units, (possibly due to supply constraints,) so with enough bundles and built momentum, they should be able to surge back ahead of their predecessor.

This holiday would have to be huge for the Xbox One to beat the 360 in it's first full year. They'll need to sell more than 5 million units in the last 6 months of this year which is a pretty tall order. Especially for a console that sold less than 2 million consoles in the first 6 months of this year. They'll even need to do about 3 million just to stay ahead of the 360 at the same period by the end of the year.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

best to let the numbers speak for themselves.

Wow so X1 has dropped below PS3, even before PS3 got below the $500 price tag.  Ouch

Considering the Wii U's outsold it for the past couple of months, i wouldn't say it's doing "good"

Agree. The 360 comparison isn't fair. 360 gained a lot of PS2 owners, that is a simple fact. In the end, things balanced out a bit, pretty much everyone was a multi platform owner (360 and PS3) last gen.

Considering the Xbox One is currently only for sale in 13 regions compared to the competition's 70 regions I would be more than shocked if the numbers were otherwise, I would apply this to the other consoles if their regional advantage was reversed to.

Let's wait until the end of September before we start counting the numbers when the Xbox One will at least be for sale in 41 regions, still 29 regions less than the other consoles but a whole lot more than it's in now.

As for comparing Xbox 360 sales for the same time period the same logic above applys exactly the same there to.

So let's see from the beginning of October how the sales pan out when it's on a more level playing field.....

Grabs popcorn and this going to be good!
