What do you mean free? It cost you 50$...

It terms of development time.  A new game requires pre - production, if pre production takes 6 months, then you can have half the team do a remaster and the other half do designing and the like and then in six months you have a new game in production and a remaster going out the door whereas what you want would only have a new game in production.

Option A: put these 30 people to make a new game, we wait 3-4 years, because it is a very small operation at this point.

Option B: put these 30 people to make a remaster, we wait 1 year, with the money we can fund a full team and make the same game that Option A would do in 2-3 years.

Option C: put these 30 people to make a new smaller game, we wait 2-3 years, because it is a very small operation at this point.

Option D: put these 30 people to make a remaster, we wait 1 year, with the money we can fund a full team and make the same game that Option A would do in 1-2years.

Why wait a year for a game that already exists?...and dont say because people who hasnt played it now has the chance.

Put these people on a new project or have them help out another dev team. We dont need these filler remasters.

I'm enjoying it again, love photo mode. Looks and plays great in 1080p60.

Where are the sour grapes articles about Tombraider and GTA5. Maybe Naughty dog should have called it The last of us definitive edition and sold it for $60 instead.

I don't understand what can be bad about a small team getting experience with the ps4, that can then help optimize Uncharted 4 or any other game. It's not lost time, it's not free work and the money raised goes back into new projects.

@Bold they are.  Many of the technologies that the TLoU team made is going towards Uncharted.

@Underlined, we don't need any games.

@italics, lots of people have their own reasons.  The PS4 version is better, not everyone had the PS3, other reasons.

So these 30 people that were taken away from the Uncharted 4 development are now going to help make it?

Ofcourse the PS4 version is better. Its upgraded a bit. Still not needed though.

starting an article by distancing your website away from its content? good start........ not

No, because that sounds like they were taken off U4 development and being readded.  That isn't what is happening.

"The tricks and lessons learnt during the development of The Last of Us: Remastered will mean that the next game from Naughty Dog will arrive sooner than it would have done.

That next game, lest you forget, will most likely be Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

"Every single one of our game releases always benefits the next," community strategist Arne Meyer told CVG.

"We work under such an iterative process that our technology either informs future decisions or, as has been the case of with Uncharted, once we take care of one aspect we move on to another, like how we did water, then snow and sand.

"We're always building on top of what we've done previously, and The Last of Us: Remastered is probably one of the more concrete examples in a way. We're making this in a way that benefits our PS4 tools pipeline so that we can have a good head start on our next, full PS4 game."

Games aren't needed period for any reason.  Don't need them to live.

Dont need them to live? Come on now.

New games are needed for a console to sell well. Remasters wont help much.

Please guys just stop posting this , its getting boring.

its getting annoying. for those who dont want TLoU:R fuck off and dont get it, end of story.

What a stupid article.

If it sells enough, then obviously it should exist. Just like Blu-Ray releases of 2001: A Space Odyssey or Blade Runner or whatever great movie you want to see in HD should exist. And for obvious reasons, they do exist.

The Last of Us: Remastered is the same great game that can now be enjoyed in full HD. Why the hell not?
