Its a tough one, Phoenix Wright games are ports of GBA games... so i won't take them into consideration.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass prob is my fave, but Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is pretty close

I think it would have to be New Super Mario Brothers. Nobody expected there to ever be another classic 2D Mario platformer and it really had all the Mario elements. Its the only really outstanding DS game..

Lots of great ones, but I'd say it's between Advance Wars DS and Castlevania DoS.

Contra IV is pretty sweet too. Stiff challenge with lots of unlockables and extras.
