I really don't see what they get out of burying the Wii U version until near release like they've done twice already. It's not like it would cost them anything to slap an extra logo on there promo material.

all promo material is exclusively controlled by MS so they cant do that.

Why do MS let Sony, their primary competition, put the PS3/PS4 logos on there, then?

I think it will, COD sells pretty bad on Wii U but Activision still makes profit, mainly since the U version is just a PS3 port

It's likely a port of the 360 version, as Wii U is closer to 360 than to PS3 in terms of architecture. (Though it's still quite different)

But yeah, it's pretty cheap to port to Wii U; Black Ops II only sold 240k yet they obviously made a profit, as they went on to port Ghosts.

a good web designer includes all eventualities from the start to prevent headaches later on.
means nothing.

I don't see the point of Activision hiding the game's release on Wii U unless another platform holder is paying them to keep quiet or something silly like that.

If it really is coming out on Wii U, then Activision really shouldn't be surprised if it fails to meet sales expectations.

ugh. some people still believe this. MS has NO reason to do that it would be a waste of money since the NInty version poses NO threat...at all. Even when the WIi was on top that COD still sold like crap next to the others

OK then, let's play a little game. I can think of just two plausible reasons why this would keep happening.

Option one: either MS or Sony are paying Activision to not announce the Nintendo version or advertise it in any way.

Option two: Activision are choosing not to announce the Nintendo version in order to depress sales on the system - basically, sabotaging it.

Can you provide any other plausible explanation for them to not even say in their press releases "game will also be available on the Wii U"? It costs them nothing to simply list Wii U amongst the platforms it will be available on and to have the Wii U logo at the end of the various trailers alongside the other logos.

It's not the fact that Nintendo versions sell worse - I'm not suggesting they make any additional effort along the way, so it's neither time, effort, not cost explaining it. Nintendo gains nothing from it, so it's not coming from Nintendo. It's not an appeasement of Sony/MS without money being involved, because neither company would in any way punish Activision by refusing to support a game that sells so strongly on their system - they benefit too much from CoD being on their system for them to in any way impede Activision. And you can't say that it's in any way about avoiding having to announce a cancellation if they decide to cancel it, because Activision hasn't had any problem announcing cancellation of other Wii/Wii U games.

So, what alternative explanations are there?

because they dont, check the actual advertisments. Its strictly MS. Even to this day. Hell the only time we actualy see anything PS related for COD is when they show it in magazines a couple of screenshots, but not many people read those and the ones who do know the PS and xbox versions are gonna be pretty much the same.

i gave a few other guys plausible explanations read them

option one makes no sense as MS already pays for exclusive advertisment, so in a way you are actual right. but it makes no sense for them to spend even MORE money to keep a version of a game underwraps that was never a threat to them EVER and never was going to be. Sony makes even less sesne since there version sells almost as much WITHOUT them having to spend an extra dime.

option 2, but why? why even make the version anyway if they are going to sabotage it. and no its not to please shareholders as that version accounts for 1% of sales. Hell i wouldnt be surprised if some shareholders say lets not even waste the money it cost to port and not have a Wii U version at all.

what other acitvision games were cancelled on WIi U? and were any of them close to the importance or popularity of COD? kind of doubt it.

Which "plausible explanations" are you referring to? The thing where you suggest that Activision "just don't give a damn"? Because that doesn't explain why they don't just have it listed in a single sentence somewhere saying "also coming to Wii U". It's not enough to explain why they aren't pushing the hell out of it, you have to explain why they don't just respond to questions about it by going "it's coming". It requires no real effort on their part in any way, and gives their customers a heads up, not to mention treating them with a little more respect.

I didn't say that either option "makes sense", but that they are at least plausible. The other options aren't even plausible. When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. I quite agree that it seems silly for MS or Sony to pay for Activision to actively ignore the Nintendo system version. And I quite agree that it seems silly for Activision to sabotage the game and yet still make it. But they're the only options I can see that aren't completely implausible (like your "explanation" that Activision don't give a damn, which not only suffers from "why bother making it, then?", but also from "wouldn't it mean less effort if they didn't have to keep deflecting questions about the existence of the Wii U version?")

As for the point about cancelling of Wii/Wii U games, let's suppose that they haven't done it before (I'm pretty sure they have, but it will take time to find specific examples with links, etc). It still doesn't make sense for them to be concerned about it - as you say, CoD is their most popular/important franchise right now. If they weren't going to support Wii U with the next CoD, then there's not much reason to expect them to support it with any other title, either... so why would it be a problem if they announced that the CoD Wii U version was cancelled? Presumably, if they were cancelling it after having spent some time developing it, it would be because they were completely pulling out from Wii U support (in which case, there's really no damage done by having first announced it)... and for that matter, they could just go with the trick that was used for the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines, with an "indefinite delay". So whether they've got a track record or not, there's simply no valid argument for failing to announce the Wii U version because of the possibility that they might not release it.

So again, I ask you: can you provide any alternative, actually-plausible explanations for their behaviour? It can't be an appeasement thing, it can't be due to Nintendo (as in, by request of Nintendo), it can't be due to fear of having to cancel it, it can't be due to cost of revealing it, and it can't be lack of care (as I said, it takes so little effort to just add "will also be available on Wii U" at the end of a press release and would make a net reduction in action necessary). Since all of those are impossible, what's left? I can't think of any other explanation except the two I've put forward - sabotage, or being paid off. While they're silly reasons for it to happen, they aren't blatant nonsense - you can't completely reject the possibility, because we know that MS and Sony pay for exclusivity deals, etc, and we know that studios have sabotaged Wii U (and Wii) games in the past (and don't bother trying to deny it - there's really no other way to interpret things like announcing Mass Effect Trilogy for other systems a short time before ME3 is set to release on Wii U, for the same price). Whether the actions "make sense", they're things that we know happen in the industry, and they're not inconsistent with the circumstance.

And if it's up to snuff, I will consider buying (after I see it).

Not giving a damn does explain it and its the best explanation. They dont give a damn becasue it is the version that traditionally doesnt contribute to the profit or sales of COD. has anyone asked if the game  is coming to Wii U? im talking about a magazine for someone actually in the industry not some blogger. Yes not annoucning the version for fear of possible cancellation makes more sense than your conspiracy theory. They would look worse saying hey COD is coming to Wii U and then going around and saying it has been cancelled. The Wii U version probably isnt done or maybe only JUST started that makes way more sense than conspiracy theories, especially since we know that that version is being done by a completly different team.

Now you didnt answer my question. What games have Activision annouced for Wii u that they went around and then cancelled? And no lack of time is not an excuse you brought it to the table you have to provide proof otherwise you are just talking out your butt. The WIi U hasnt been out that long where it would be hard to find if a game got cancelled, hell Activision doesnt even publish that much games. announcing a game then cancelling will always do damage as it always looks not good. By not saying anything they could avoid that whole problem and not look like the bad guys. And if they drop COD they probably would still put out Skylanders since that still makes them money.

Is it really so hard to just show the Wii U option as well, instead of pretending it doesn't exist? (Yes, I'm aware the existence of this version isn't a certainty, but they hid the Wii U option for Black Ops 2 and Ghosts as well)
