Everytime someone says Halo for Xbox, I think Mario for Nintendo, but that isn't even symmetric. Halo is more like Xbox's Zelda. They don't have a Mario.

Why cherrypick?
tl:dr
WW LTD
Zelda = 75 mill, Halo = 53 mill, Mario = 529 mill
Globally in the US
Zelda = 39 mill, Halo = 40 mill, Mario = 267 mill
Conclusion: Halo =/= Mario, Halo == Zelda

Why include games that have released, games that have no data, DLC, IOS games, games that aren't even part of the franchise, and etc?
Halo is a much newer franchise, it's above Zelda.

Nope, irrelevant. Everything is included to remain objective.
All of this data can be found in VGChartz by Charts>Game Totals "zelda" "mario "halo" (individual searches)
Claim: Halo is Xbox's Zelda.
Evidence: Zelda and Halo's life time sales are within 1-2 million of each other, Zelda outsells Halo globally.
Rationale: Zelda has peformed the same over time as Halo has even though halo has done it faster (Higher Average), this is basically the situation with the PS3 and 360 magnified. Lack of global prescene of Halo however, negates most of Halo's age discrepancy. Not to mention Age discrepancy is pretty irrelevant considering many established franchises have been outsold by younger ones. Wii Sports for example sold more than all Halo games combined despite being a generation younger than it.
