Forums - General - Just watched my first Blu-Ray movie!

Since i recently purchased a PS3... I thought, heck... I'm gonna go out and borrow a Blu-Ray movie. Wasn't expecting really much of it, because i already thought DVD looked really good. People saying it was up to 5x sharper then DVD. I didn't think you'd notice the difference, same like i didn't notice the difference between Composite and Component on my Wii. People were exagerating on that so i didn't expect much.

But well, back to the point. Someone told me that the best way to watch a new video-format was to use a computer-made movie. Something like Surf's up or Bee Movie or Cars. Something you normally wouldn't watch if there are other things to choose if you know what i mean. But i decided to go with Cars, my first entry in the Blu-Ray format.

So i start the film, and i was like WHAAAAAAT! Wayooo! (i'm a little exagerating here, but this is just to get the message over)... I really have to admit! This looks WAY better than DVD. Although i already thought that looked great! HD-movies definitely are a step forward! The detail is just magnificent. I'm really diggin' it! And i'm already looking forward to a new Blu-Ray movie! C'mon New Line Cinema, make an super-extended LoTR trilogybox for Blu-Ray! That would be my first real Blu-Ray purchase! (I rented Cars)!

Too bad i still don't have Dolby 7.1 surround. That would've been even better, uncompressed sound Ftw! ...

Wow. Now make sure you lie down and drink plenty of water. One's first experience with the Blu-Ray can severely strain the body. Are you okay?

This was similar to my first Blu-Ray experience (Spiderman 3).

Yeah I almost can't go back to DVD's now xD The black levels are off, the color is skewed, and the detail just isn't up to par :P Check out Casino Royale, Pirates, Live Free or Die hard, and Ratatoulle (sp >

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Yes, after my first Hi-Def movie experience (Well, actually, mine was Transformers on HD-DVD), I was exactly like you. The difference is there, and it's abundantly clear.

My first blu-ray was Planet earth.
The crocodiles made me go "WOAH O.O!!"

also you havent seen planet earth till you turn on motion enhancer in an XBR 4/5 while watching, everything seems so life like.
